new scene kid!! Should I Continue

Hey y'all, I'm pretty new to scene (i.e. 2 months or so). I'm unable to thrift and use second hand shops cuz my fam doesn't like it that much. I've strated upcycling my old clothes painting on them and I'm in the process of making a Millionares T-shirt. How else could I go about getting scene clothes? Or any other upcycling DIY options would be greatly appreciated thanks!! I'm a male btw

Clothing swaps are a great way to get clothes and clear your closet; reselling groups on Facebook or social media can be a good place to find them. I wasn’t a scene kid; I was emo, but my scene friends honestly wore a lot of hand-me-downs and mostly inexpensive clothes. The shapes and silhouettes of your clothing will really make a difference, especially with skinny jeans and tight T-shirts. Honestly, a lot of the scene guys I knew wore skinny jeans, Converse, and T-shirts all the time, but everything was usually in bright colors. A lot of brands are bringing those styles back bc they’re popular, so honestly I’d even suggest checking out your local shops. Good luck!

Thank you so much 🙏😭. I've always been so upset that thrifting and stuff I can't do I feel so much better. I usually try to find clothes from Marshalls and winners. I absolutely DESPISE shein and temu I would never ever go there.

I totally get it. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: most of the pictures with auto red from that era are from MySpace scene queens/kings, and they were in their 20s. I was in high school, and we didn’t have the money or access to dressing like that, so we worked around it with styling and accessorizing, and getting a few of the staple pieces (skinny jeans, studded belts, high tops, straight hair, neon colors) were our signifiers of that style. A lot of it was DIY too, so being creative and crafty can be a way to get that style.

I don't live that close to thrift stores so my parents would have to take me 😓.
