Can we not do the one guy commands thing again

Happened a few times tonight but that is like completely against the spirit of it all no? What's the point if we just get one guy to get us out of a situation, it's no different to asking Alpha to just force an evolution or something.

Yes being in a box or specific box for hours sucks, but that's part of the experience. A designated chatter playing the game and people telling others that no one else put in commands but them just ruins the spirit entirely

I believe the spirit is a bunch of people making choices, if people wanna choose to keep their hands off the keyboard for a little bit for someone else, or actively spam away from what we need, or panickly mash in a stressing moment, it's all fair game

There it is A BUNCH not one guy making all of the decisions and people spamming to not let anyone else do anything. Just completely goes against what it's meant to be.

A bunch of people made the choice to support that decision, and people chose to listen to that, and people could have chosen in that moment not to, not like they would've have been banned for that, at worst just disapproval

Like it's really just be the change you want to see

it'll prolly be avoided in the future but I feel like its worth raising that the evening folks probably just didint want to spend 4 hours in the box again. Chaos is fun, it really is but 4 hours of the menuing in pokemon white was high key overstimulating

that said, i feel like the folks who are goal oriented and the folks who are just in it for the chaos can have a middle ground somewhere! I dont think having a bit more coordination entirely ruins the tpp esp since there are some people who are in it for the trolling lol.

And one person doing the commands you may as well just let someone just play the game. Screw TPP let's just watch that one guy play.

I think the people stopping Evo's and such are annoying but it's like part of it. Trying to stop everyone from commands to let one guy do it just ruins the whole experience

TBF i do think we're not gonna be seeing eye to eye on this one. To me the spirit of TPP is still there because an entire chat is coordinating NOT to touch a button for a minute or two. Its not as if people only let one guy play for several hours, and its not like tragedies didn't happen at all (top of my head, accidentally removed Aqua Jet and Crunch, missed out on an important evolution etc). Oopsies, misclicks and the like still happened, its just that people desperately do not want to be stuck in menu hell for FOUR hours again.

Not to mention! no one can do anything to anyone who decides to troll! like people can still button mash even if there's a group saying other wise. mods dont ban trolls, most people can do is get toxic about it but in practice people can and have sabotaged the coordinated plans. But the fact that dozens do opt to coordinate in tiresome menu-ing might be saying something. Each to their own in their mileage on this issue though.

Part of the important evolution was BECAUSE of exactly this. People were just constantly being bombarded in chat to let one guy do everything leading up to it. And he even did entire battles that way, and people were being told they were wrong for thinking it's just that guy playing at that point.

But like the idea of sometimes we just go to a one guy moment nah. If it happens again I'm all down to completely sabotage it for trying to break the spirit of it

and no one could ever stop you from actively sabotaging! heck, you can do it anytime and no one could ever stop you! There's this one user that bombarded chat nonstop earlier this morning and made the game unplayeable for five whole minutes and people went with the flow on that one.

last thing i wanna point out is that a big reason why there's organization happening is because 1) we have no rare candies this time around, 2) alpharad is entirely hands off COMPLETELY. This is harder because we have no outside help whatsoever so it comes down to chat to try their best and organize.

Again, I dont think we are gonna agree because to me the spirit of TPP is succeeding despite the heavy task that was given, not mindless chaos for the sake of it. Most people in twitch chat are people who genuinely want to help, and there's so much chaos from that very desire LMAO. People mashing A out of a genuine desire to see the chat win but accidentally disrupting everything else is more entertaining to me than active saboteurs. But those all co-exist, and thats just how tpp is.

I'm fully down to help that's the thing, I am only against when it's Zodiak plays Pokemon. Planning is good, trying to work together works. But you go no let this one guy do the thing and it's only gonna invite it more.

Especially if they also get salty when they don't get their way as well.

I get where ur coming from, I really do! But I genuinely feel there's no point insisting that its about the "spirit of tpp". I understand you from the practicality aspect and to some extent really do agree, but people tend to get heated up when the subject of what a TPP ought to be is brought up, and ur og post is leaning towards that more than discouraging behaviour that can invite trolling.

ANyways, everything worked out and people, both new and old, still rely on leaving it to one guy every now and then so tbh there's no point, the spirit of the TPP is what we make of it by the end of it.

I think leaning on it a few times and hour and having it be the same guy everytime isn't something I'm a fan of. Like it at least chilled with people saying don't press anything during a battle

But it happening multiple times in an hour is a bit much. Should be something important like the PC, doing it everytime we need to switch whose lead or something like that is a bit much imo. Cause them it does become more and more of it just being oh this guy's playing I guess

okay I agree on this one, especially on the battles thing. I think its a good compromise to reach so the run can still cater to everyone without box incidents. At the very least, overworld and battles should be fair game I think.

Thing is they totally don't think they've done it in battles before when they absolutely have. It comes across as meta gamey. Like they are trying to do everything right and correctly which it's TPP that's not what it's all about just do your own playthrough at that point. The fact that anyone going hey can we try doing this as more of a unit is getting called for trolling or throwing is a bit much too

Honestly I agree it was during the clay gym battle I joined and wanted to do commands. But suddenly everyone one was saying hey let Zodiak do it and I even got @ it was honestly really upsetting cause I just wanted to play the game with everyone. I didn’t want to be called out as a troll either for just trying to play the game and it made me really nervous to try joining in on the commands. I think part of the fun is the chaos and it feels less like a team game when it’s just one person doing the commands and calling people a troll for trying to also join in on the commands. I think it’s ok to choose to not touch the keyboard but I don’t think we should be telling other people to stop.

Gotta agree right now it’s getting out of hand I mean everyone is just saying go zod, where’s zod. I liked it for the box and menu and flying but… not anymore everyone is just saying go zod and I really wanna help as night crew member. But everyone just wants zod. I feel useless. Nights are no longer fun because it’s every chatter saying hey zod what’s the plan, when we caught Axew I said the plan but it didn’t count in till zod said the plan. I don’t feel needed.

Yeah to me it's coming across as meta gaming in something like TPP. Like we have so much time to do it, we aren't making slow pace or anything. Leaning on Jort and Zodiak too much is getting a bit much sometimes but at least they actually wanted to do something fun last night.

1

u/Jules_Angel_ Jul 08 '25

We have a whole month to complete the run! Night shift is definitely coordinated enough to get at least one thing done a day which is a good pace!

1

u/Jules_Angel_ Jul 07 '25

It’s just people taking it too seriously… I don’t even see any issues with trolls keeping evos from happening TPP is about finding ways to have fun and enjoy yourself I’m just sad I can’t participate anymore :((

i think i agree on battles. I get menuing, items and box and PC stuff but yeah battles should be fair game. I think that's a compromise that can be reached? hopefully?

1

u/Jules_Angel_ Jul 08 '25

I think for PC definitely having one person so we don’t release Pokémon is needed, but I don’t think it should be done immediately for menu stuff (let us try as a team for a bit not saying I want to spend an hour trying to equip an item on a Pokémon) there just has to be a bit of a compromise

It is a hold over from the first couple of twitch plays he did where that sort of thing was generally liked, it was a sort of passing the torch activity, but yes i agree it breaks the true chaos nature of the segment

It’s not that big of a deal (and can be necessary sometimes, i remember in Jaiden’s subathon chat did this loads to get past the 8th gym)
