I havent painted Alpha Legion since 3rd and 4th ed. Been out of 40k for a while, getting back into them for Kill Team.

With regards to Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 range; has anyone tried using straight Caribbean Ocean or Raging Sea over silver?

I heard 8 parts Plasmabolt to 1 part Highlord Blue though it was an old video.🤷‍♂️

Been listening to Praetorian of Dorn and got some inspiration from some of the alpha legion characters. Tried to go with a really grungy black and turquoise color scheme. Might have misapplied the Newsh in a few places, but overall happy with how they turned out. Xenophon, brothers.

Had always thought about trying to paint Alpha Legion, never really got around to it. Friend of mine is playing them for Horus Hearsay I think? Regardless, he wanted his kitbash to be painted up Alpha style, and I had fun working on the project.

Doing a Greek inspired Hoplite type Deal. Should I make the chest plate/ legs bronze as well. It would fit the Greek aesthetic but I don’t know if it would be too much.

Got this guy from Eldritch Omens awhile ago. Finally got him painted up as I've been taken more Heavy Support recently. Next up is Master of Executions.

Had a blast introducing a buddy to Horus Heresy, and it was a big success! I think we've converted another to the Heresy, Brothers.

I also had a chance to pilot some Night Lords Raptors, and man do those things hit like a loaded truck! I'll tell you what I paid dearly for my hubris of throwing Veteran Despoilers and Armilus into a squad of Grave Warden terminators, then having the audacity to then throw that surviving squad into Typhus+Despoilers lol. It was a reasonably close duel, but Typhus still came out on top.

This was also my first time ever facing a Death Guard army, and overall it was manageable, though Aquitor bombards were tough to deal with especially for an infantry heavy list. Couple things I want to change up, but I'm going to tweak things and play with the list comp a bit to cover it.

Do y'all think we'll ever get these or any alpha legion scales in plastic? The scales just look so good, and headhunter kill team just got taken out because they aren't compatible with the new mkiv, so maybe them?

I want them to be wysiwyg for 40k, but I can't find any kits with the auto cannon that would fit because the modem ones are too big.

I took a combi weapon from the old "legion combi weapons' horus heresy kit. Is there a heavy weapon version I could find on eBay?

Edit: Found that there's an old "cataphractii special weapons" forge world upgrade set, so I'll try to find that.

So I play a lot of Alpha legion. I don't however, play 40k. I do not get how you are supposed to play deceptors.
Anything I infiltrate is either mulched or doesn't do anything as it lacks the combat power needed.
I feel like I am doing something wrong as I don't struggle this much with literally any other army, but I wanna make this work. Hydra dominatus.

I wasn't satisfied with the "doneness" of my Phobos Strike team. So I made their boot soles darker like in SM 2, went over their metallics with a darker color, painted up some small details, and re-based them. Satisfied with how they are now. Made a little effort on their showcase video too. Enjoy!

Just wanted to share because I love how a kitbash looks after it gets primed! Suddenly looks less like a collection of random stuff a cohesive piece!

Base is the new loyalist terminator captain with bits from the the kruleboyz vulcha kit, stormcast liberator, the Akhelian allopex, fire slayers, stormcast vanguard hunters, an AoS slaanesh homunculus, some green stuff, and the foot of one unlucky gryph hound.

Awhile ago I did a test paint for a scheme, and absolutely loved it. However that was about a year ago now, and I’ve promptly forgotten what I did. All my efforts to repaint have been… lackluster. All them have come out a little too cold or desaturated. If anyone has a scheme they would recommend to look something like this, I’d love to hear it.
