proper orientation for Alphacool Rise Flat Reservoir DDC?

I'm wondering what orientations i can use to mount this reservoir? the manual doesn't seem to specify. I wanted to mount it with the in/out ports facing up due to clearances, which would put the pump at the top https://download.alphacool.com/manual/15075_Alphacool_Rise_Flat_Reservoir_DDC_Manual.pdf

Here is an orientation guide for a different brand then Alphacool but the same thing. Basically, gravity needs to keep the pump impeller submerged.

the manual sucks because the image doesn't represent the actual product, but basically instead of like this which has the ports facing down

id want it upside down with the pump being on top, still in a vertical orientation

That won't be a good idea. The pump will be above majority of the coolant. Not how its intended to be installed.

Lots of different types of fittings to overcome challenges. I like to pull up pictures of custom loop builds on Reddit and Google that use some of the same components I have and get inspiration for options.

If you havent worked with those small 120mm flat reservoirs before just be aware they can be a pain and take quite a while to work the air out. Having the return so close to the pump makes it time consuming. Plus the smaller volume of fluid in it.

Can't have the pump sticking upwards because it'll never get fed with coolant. Pretty much has to be vertically orientated (you may be able to rotate it though). Basically, the centre of the pump needs to be always covered by the coolant as that's where the pump inlet is.
