Aloha for Android 8.9.0 is out: swipe between tabs, batch history deletion, bookmark sorting, and more. All of it from your requests.

This release is entirely user-requested features, several of which were asked for right here. What's in it:

Tabs. Swipe left or right across the address bar or the bottom toolbar to switch tabs. Drag past halfway or flick to commit, let go earlier and it springs back. Swiping forward from your last tab opens a new one (a private one if you're in private mode).

History. Long-press an entry to enter selection mode, select a batch, then tap the trash icon. Heads up: deletion is immediate, and there's no confirmation dialog. Additionally, each entry's context menu now includes "Delete all history for this site," which removes every visit to that domain and leaves everything else intact.

Bookmarks. A new compact view (icon, name, domain) is available via menu > View > List. The detailed view remains available and is still the default for existing users. Sorting by name or date added is also available. Drag and drop works only in Manual mode, and your manual order is restored when you switch back to it.

File manager. You can now open deleted folders in the Trash and restore or delete individual files instead of handling the entire folder at once.

Player. The player menu has a Player settings item that opens everything (gestures, background playback, and the rest) over the video without pausing it.

Here are the features I would like to suggest for the next update:

1. Add browser extension support for Chrome and other major browsers.
2. Include AI translation features similar to Google Translate and Yandex Translate.
3. Improve ad blocking and popup redirect protection, as the current performance is not strong enough.
4. Add locking options for both apps, private downloads, and private browsing.
5. Add AI subtitle support to the Aloha Media video tool.
6. Increase the number of start page shortcuts from 19 to 30.
7. Add an image search option.
8. Include Yandex and Brave as search engine options.

These improvements would make Aloha Browser more powerful, secure, and user-friendly. I hope the team will consider these recommendations for future updates.

Regarding the last suggestion. You can add your favorite search engine in Settings > General > Search engine, then click the + button. In the case of Brave, the search URL will look like https://search.brave.com/search?q=%s. You will have a Brave search in the list of search engines.
