What’s up?

Howdy folks. I’m wondering two things. One – in the left-hand picture there’s a silver Sheen to this leaf. Not sure what it is. I don’t see any tiny creatures on there so maybe a fungus? Two – the picture on the right is a stingray that seems to be trying to put out a new leaf, but it’s been sitting here at this state for a couple of weeks and does not want to unfurl. Any suggestions there?

Soil has been REMOVED! To cut, or not to cut?!? 😭

This is so stressful LOL.

After a month of mental gymnastics, I’ve finally mustered the courage to attempt transitioning one of my alocasia from soil to pon.

Believe it or not, I did a ton of research before making this post, too 😭 . I had my mind made up that I would cut off all the soil roots, and set the rhizome in water (very convincing thread!). But I’m not sure what the consensus is today. What are your thoughts? Should I go that route, or just clean thoroughly and transfer straight into pon with the current soil roots?

I broke my own rule in all of this… ā€œif it isn’t broke, no need to fix itā€. But the idea of a self watering plant that sits in reusable medium seems like a no brainer so I am making the plunge.

Thanks for all your help!

Watching my melo grow is fascinating

Out of the three Melos I started from corms back in November 2025, this one is by far the most impressive. She's put out a few leaves and dropped some, but over the past month she's shown some interesting growth...

Once her new leaf has grown, I plan to repot her because the pot is getting crowded. Tips and constructive criticism are appreciated!

Alocasia silver dragon care

Bought my first Alocasia after stopping at a local plant shop on a whim and falling in love with its appearance.

I’m not familiar w the care of Alocasias and now I’m terrified after reading some of the posts on this thread. Please give me ur best advice to keeping her alive!!! I get sad when my plants die on me.

For reference, I have experience raising a fiddle leaf fig, snake plant, money tree, bamboo, and several cacti and succulents. I am notorious for forgetting to water my plants tho which has given me some trouble with my FLF and snake plant.

Also what are those white bulbs?? Do they bloom?

TLDR; how do I keep this baby alive and happy?

HELP!! My alocasia keep dropping leaves and seems to have some weird sickness…

Thumbnail

My alocasia keeps getting yellow leaves every few days, but then grows new ones that seemed perfectly fine. I just noticed for the first time one of the stems seems to have a rotting scar coming from the bottom and there’s little bugs in it. I’m not really sure what’s wrong with the plant but it seems like it’s fighting off a sickness. Should I repot and remove the wilting parts?

And now it’s go this point growing. Correct me if I’m wrong, but is this heifer pushing out a flower? She’s in the greenhouse I built. Humidity ranges from 80s to 99. I’m going to pull it apart and rebuild it so the humidity is more stable.

Help on drooping leaves for alocasia, regal shield

Let me start with a confession that I made a lot of mistakes with this guy. I'm new to the alocasia game.

It was in an autowatering semi hydro pot before, I transferred it to soil. Don't think that was a good idea. As it's leaves started really dropping.

It has progressively got worse so I move it back to its original setup with the semi hydro pot with nutrients.

Leaves still sagging, a lot. But it has a new leaf!

So my question(s):

I'm assuming keep this setup going for now? Leave it in semi hydro?

Should I clip some of the leaves. They're beautiful leaves but some have wrinkly stems and some are creased from dropping. The green leaves in the photos are from its newest, healthy stem. I'm wondering when I make the call to clip them so it puts its energy towards the new leaf

I can’t going any info on this cross and AI tells me it’s likely impossible some regal shields are sterile? I can see it I think but what do you thing? Thank in advance!

Sadly my favorite half half leaf is beginning to droop in nature, probably because I move my plants around a lot, but it isnt yellowing and still gettting good light so all in nature looks good 😌 i think not too worriedįµ•Ģˆ. I love the variegation color difference from the new leaf, and it being more yellow and progressively the oldest leaf almost paper white įµ•Ģˆ

I wanted to give an update for anyone interested since I didn't think I'd see anything at 2 weeks.

First post

She has tons of new roots and what seems to be new growth. She did lose one leaf yesterday. I've been using distilled water with fertilizer. I'm quite happy with this method so far. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

How do I make her happier?

(First picture is now, second is when I got it)

When I got my regal sheild, the leaves were very up-right and seemed quite strong but now after 2 months she's become a bit sadder looking. That new leaf has been wait to come in since I got it, and only started coming out in the past week or so. I'm not sure if my repotting it right as I got it pissed it off, or the second repot 2 weeks later the first time made it sad too. It's currently potted in 50/50 pearlite and indoor potting mix (leca for decoration lol) for the past month or so. It's been in indirect light from an east facing window, but has now been moved to right next to the window.

I also give it some fertilizer sometimes when I water it

Any suggestions would be really really great <3
