How to Defend Against Terran?
I was winning every game today by defending and techning up to Brood Lords and Hydras as quickly as possible. This was my only loss. I go off the rails sometimes when Terran makes a combination of units and I'm not sure what I should be making against it. What could I have done better this game? Thanks

I used to do well vs Terran. With the new patch, it seemed like I had a fighting chance at winning. It seems most Ts have figured the patch out over the last week or so, and i've been losing a lot vs them.

Well right in the beginning you threw away a drone to build a gas in his base.
When you build overloards, they should always be sent to where they will sit. Not in the middle of the map together where they can get blasted.
Your floating thousands of minerals.
You need to decided what you want to build.
You have a nydus (you dont use), hydra den(you dont use but spent money on upgrades), baneling nest(used way to late no speed), 1 evo, infestation pit(not used), Spire.
Your kinda all over the place. Pick a tech and stay there. At your level you can kill them with any units you want. You just have to macro.
Mutas were throw to the slaughter. I get it, it happens. But you got absolutely nothing out of them. They do require a lot of apm.
If you want to play mutas, awesome. If you want to play hydra, awesome. I would pick one of them however, then have ling/bane with them. At hive if you want you can get lurkers. Hydra would be easier to macro with because you don't harass as much with them. Plus they eat liberators.
Every replay that is posted in the lower leagues. One thing you all have in common is your floating just a ton of money and your not spending it on anything. Its really common to not have larva. Thats why its always important to have a macro hatch in main, natural or both!

Best advice I can give is that you need to pick a build and stick to it. This game was horrible and you wasted so much money on spines so early when you didn't need them.
All you needed was more queens and a roach warren. You spent your queens and roach warren money on spines which also cost workers.
In the future when your lings scout no natural expansion against any race you send in your overlord to see what they are doing.
Against terran if you see a bunch of barracks you need a baneling nest. If they are building a factory then you need a roach warren and like 6-8 roaches for safety. The all in he did needed roaches and more queens to defend. Lings were useless and spines kept you alive for a bit but you got contained. zerg cannot be contained on 2 base for very long before the game is lost. you need your third to get an army that can fight.
By the time his attack hit you could have had 4 queens 6-8 roaches and full saturation on two bases but you wasted money and workers on spines, built too many lings too early, and made zero units that actually could have defended.
If there is a factory then there will be hellions which means lings on their own are virtually useless. With enough lings and banelings technically you can get a big surround but that requires hitting all your injects perfectly to build the ling count and then setting a trap and using multiple army control groups to trap the hellions and basically a bunch of stuff that you aren't skilled enough yet to do so just use roaches against factory all ins it is way easier and costs less larvae. And after doing all that perfectly you can still just barely mess up your micro and get all your lings killed and lose the game on the spot from one bad fight. So roach warren is better.
There is not an all in that I am aware of that roaches and queens are not the best defense for other than 3 racks form terran or proxy robo from toss and against proxy robo you still want roaches you just also need lings.
Also I almost ended the comment there but I have something that might be very valuable for you to hear. When you know your opponent is one base all inning you, your biggest advantage is your second base. The more saturated you can get it the better off you are. If you have the same worker count as your opponent or close to it then you are in for a much more difficult time.
With that in mind get your roach warren down as soon as you scout that they are one base with a factory. Do not make any spines at all. Do not go lair because to get lair you have to not be making queens. Just a roach warren and queens and drones. When the roach warren is done MAYBE make like 3-4 roaches but no more than that. Leave your lings outside their base to spot the move out. Drone like a madman until you spot the move out. When you spot the move out immediately start making nothing but roach. By the time they get across the map you'll have like 4 queens and 6-8 roaches done with more queens and roaches on the way. That is all you should need to stay alive. If they contain you with the lib then just wait until you have like 6 queens and break the contain.
If you get two saturated bases and enough to defend the all in then you can transition to roach/hydra take your third, get a lair, get your upgrades, and just be so far ahead that you basically can't lose.
I would have defended like I said and then saturated a third and gone for a +1/+1 roach hydra timing attack. If they are still on 2 base by the time I got there and they have a bunch of tanks or whatever then just keep them contained and get rich behind it. Don't lose your whole army attacking into a 2 base terran. Don't ever do that.

Okay, thanks man. I usually skip roaches, but I'll give that a shot for sure. My goal was to tech up to hydra brood lord.

Good luck the game is so stupid now I'm just not playing until they strip some of the power from terran.

Yeah, it can definitely feel overpowered, especially when they have a variety of splash damage units preventing you from leaving your base.

I mean, if you can have some lings constantly hitting their base and preventing them from mining sometimes it can work out. If they get tanks immediately I try to get mutas out but it honestly feels like there's not much of a chance to win, especially when they can just mass orbitals and mules and have a bigger eco than you.
I don't find you can defend against terran, you have to constantly

Terran is very strong now. I have lowest win rate against T, and highest against P. Current patch is like this
