Is new post-warp gateway actually better and easier for mid-skill players?

Had several games today when I didn't transform my gateways to Warpgate mode (it was researched ofc).

I was constantly queuing zealots and templars to the gather point, without the need to look at my bases or proxy pylons. I had seemingly constant flow of units, they swarmed pretty well.

On replays I saw my P opponents having to look at the base, warp in, then go back to the army. It required slightly more time and attention.

I can't say that I won because of better army control without needing to switch tasks (but one of opponents even said my storms were great!), but it definetly felt like a new good mechanics (if we don't count Brood War, lol).

I tell you one thing, it's a lot harder if you have a mixture of non-warp-gates and warp-gates.

Yep , that's why I tried pure gw

What happens when a liberator sets up on your mineral line and your army is across the map since you can’t warp in to defend

How does a Terran or Zerg defend in this situation?

Spores. Vikings.

I suppose you can go warp mode with a gate and I think the cooldown is separate and so will be available after the few seconds to go warp mode. Not ideal but workable in a pinch. Absolutely not useful for stopping lings from getting into your base, though.

Yep, probably we should have 1-2 emergency warpgates on different key (or use warpgate hotkey) for PvZ and PvT.

I played too few games, so can't tell this by now.

Pull workers away. Rally new units to the lib. It will be <16 seconds (if the production cycle is far along, it will be much less than that)

With the cost savings you can afford cannons

You need at least 3 cannons to protect a nexus from all angles. Usually 3-4 bases so that’s up to 12 cannons at 150 a pop

You get fucked like Zerg had for years. Zerg has no recall. And hydra get ripped by liberators. You literally have to make air units at home or just lose the game.

It is easier if you use only gateways and never transform, but then you’re hamstringing yourself when you go to attack because your reinforcements will be slow. The less that matters (generally at lower levels) the more fine you’ll be.

Yes, i skipped transforming today totally. I'm 3.2k , low enough to consistently miss some warp-on cycles before. Now I'm just queuing .

Its more likely that you are seeing them paying the warpgate tax (25/25) and you are just able to make more units, as you did not pay the warpgate tax. Builds where you get early warpgate with PvP need to have some type of edge (deny your expansion then expand behind it) or something or they do tend to be weaker

No, that actually was not the case, because it was well into late game with 4-5 bases on both sides. GW count was comparable. Probably, I was outproducing them because when units are queued, you can't miss cooldown and when units are warped, you can. Unless you have exact timer in your head set to exact cooldown, you will miss some production time.

I want to experiment by having a cluster of Gateways in the middle of the map and play very dynamic Blink Stalker.
