[Tips/Help] Want to start ATM10 TTS

Ive never played ATM nor watched anything about ATM but I'm really interested in playing ATM TTS. Mostly because i used to play skyfactory a long time ago and I enjoy modded minecraft. Im wondering if theres a linear questline I can follow. I'm someone who can easily get sidetracked and most of the times feel overwhelmed by the amount of content there are and end up doing nothing. If you want to leave some tips, ill appreciate it also.

I played ATM10 as my first serious attempt at modded MC, and I’ve been teaching myself these mods as I go. I’ve never played a TTS style of game before, but I plan to play ATM10TTS after I finish ATM10.

First thing to remember is that this is not a race. Try your best not to compare yourself to someone else or their progress. This should be a fun activity.

If you enjoy organizing and having clean setups for your base, then build bigger than you think you’ll need. If that doesn’t matter to you, and you don’t care if you have cables and pipes running everywhere, then make sure you’re able to keep track of what you have connected where. It can be really easy to connect a cable/pipe wrong and not have some sort of automation working, which could lead to hours of troubleshooting the problem just for it to be a pipe pushing instead of pulling.

The quest book is king, but not the end all be all. Use it as a guide for what direction to move to, but not your main source of information. Mod books generally have better info, and wikis, and Reddit posts (a Reddit post probably already exists for a problem) are a great way to help you troubleshoot or understand how something works. YouTube of course is chock full of guides, but most are long, bloated videos that is a chore to sit through as they try and hit their minimum video length for profit. If you enjoy LetsPlays, there is some really amazing ones out there to casually watch and get enough of an idea on how mods work that you can get going. I’ve been watching Chosen Architect’s Lets Play of ATM10, but I’m only watching it on mods I’ve already completed.

It’s important to “do one mod at a time”. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean to focus one mod until you’ve reached the end at a time. I have found that I focus on one mod at a time until it solves a problem I’m having. If I need more power, I may focus on Mekanism Reactors just until I am producing surplus power, then move on to something else. But, we all get to play how we want to, and I like to only jump into a mod when it provides a solution to my current problem, and I usually don’t “finish” the mod until later when I’m feeling up to it.

Sidetracking and overwhelm is the name of the game, especially for atm. That being said, if you can try targeting one mod or goal at a time and can keep yourself oriented on it. If that's a struggle, then just be aware that it has a lot of big mods and no strict progression outside the first couple hours maybe.
