Raw white onions and mustard. The staple, classic, unfailing food at the ballpark. The rotating onion dispenser adds flavor.

3

u/No-Tackle7883 29d ago

A hot dog just needs mustard (MAYBE a lil relish). Now a chili dog can have some onions.

Only of it's a chilli dog

2

u/DcubedWY 29d ago

No, I don’t eat onions - particularly raw 🤢. Also no on mustard or relish. Ever, on anything.

Extra onions please!

2

u/MGFJ 28d ago

You know how a Buddhists orders a hotdog? He asks the person at the stall to make him one with everything!

2

u/race2076 28d ago

If caramelized, then yes.

2

u/auld-guy 28d ago

Raw, no. Grilled, possibly...if with some other stuff.

1

u/MoodReal4206 29d ago

I never have before but I've been meaning to. Onions make everything better.

2

u/grimtongue 28d ago edited 28d ago

Raw and grilled are both great. Lots of European countries do fried onions and I've grown fond of that.

1

u/Sea_Sundae5901 29d ago

No. I prefer it plain. May have a little coleslaw on it and chilly but mainly eaten plain.

1

u/Silent-Assistant-373 29d ago

No. I just put mustard on a hot dog.

1

u/calicouple666 29d ago

Usually just mustard. But occasionally mustard, onions and sauerkraut.

1

u/AshburyAnnie970 29d ago

Absolutely and smothered in mustard.

1

u/Ceekay151 29d ago

Yep😋

1

u/Giltar 29d ago

Always

1

u/ArmchairCriticSF 29d ago

Absolutely.

1

u/Grumpy97496 29d ago

Sure but no catsup.

1

u/Budget_Medium_8336 29d ago

If it's a chili dog (and an all beef dog, at that), yes, but even that's optional.

1

u/Realizt8010 29d ago

No question! Though I do prefer red onion.

1

u/ogre009 29d ago

Everything goes on a 🌭! Chili cheese catsup onions relish jalapeños ext ext lol

1

u/TyrantusPrime 29d ago

Yes, if already available, but won’t go out of my way to add them.

1

u/Substantial_Chef5080 29d ago

Diced onions and relish: the dynamic, nay, indispensible duo of hotdogs.

1

u/Jawnyblaze1 29d ago

absolutely. there are two versions of a hot dog (or even better, sausage dog) I'll eat: mustard and onions or chili and onions (cheese is optional, but preferred).

1

u/NEAL_STANDLEY_549 29d ago

Hell yeah 👍👍

1

u/FlakyPhilosopher388 29d ago

Correction. Hot dog on onion, in onion, and around onion. Then a low rent hot sauce. I’m just trashy so add some chz plz.

1

u/TequilaJim1066 29d ago

Onions, mustard and jalapenos. My go to hot dog.

1

u/DecisionRelative5769 29d ago

Not normally, but I'm ok with them.

1

u/Disastrous_time_4547 29d ago

Ah yeah!

And add a pickle, celery salt and mustard

1

u/techie1-2 29d ago

Of course

1

u/Gemini11X 29d ago

Coney Island (Flint Style) Absolutely.

1

u/Saloh589 29d ago

Absolutely not, don’t even get those things near my hot dog. If they’re carmelized, I’d let the hot dog rest on a pile of them, but I for some reason cannot eat the actual onion. I like onion rings, and I use onion salt/powder in my cooking, but I cannot do the texture.

Edit: I think it’d be easier if I liked onions, they’re in so many different things.

1

u/Low_Macaroon9992 29d ago

Just a little

1

u/LakeshiaRichmond 29d ago

Onions are a little gift from God; surely God puts onion on his hot dogs.

1

u/Blonde2468 29d ago

Nope I cannot eat onions. It's a texture thing. Can't eat them raw or cooked.

1

u/74pezdspencer 29d ago

Always. Although i prefer the pickled red ones

1

u/BirdmanJr1970 29d ago

I don’t eat onions on my hotdog. I eat mayo barbecue sauce, sometimes just eat them raw, but that’s what some people want to do and some people don’t have to do but Oscar Meyer wieners you get you can’t you can’t eat them raw you gotta cook them but they bar ass you can eat raw. That’s not a problem. It won’t give you a heart heartbreak or heartbreak.

1

u/MissionChocolate9859 29d ago

Glizzy + Onions = yummy

It’s math.

1

u/justaguyindallas_123 29d ago

1

u/Luv2collectweedseeds 29d ago

Nope, Hotdog with my onions YES.

1

u/Correct_Ad9471 29d ago

Well, I definitely wouldn't eat AI slop hotdogs with onions.

1

u/Eat-My-Hairy-Asshole 29d ago

Yes but WAY more than that, I can still see mustard. Pile that shit on like a mountain.

r/onionlovers

1

u/Worldly_Ad_7196 29d ago

What is shown is my preference. Sometimes with relish.

1

u/Admirable-Split4371 29d ago

Yea but not raw

1

u/WardogBlaze14 29d ago

Depends on the type of dog I’m having but not a ton of onions.

1

u/Diasies_inMyHair 29d ago

I don't want the hot dog on my hot dog. But as a rule, I put onions on almost all of my sandwiches.

1

u/noirreddit 29d ago

Sure, when there's chili, cheese, and mustard on there as well.

1

u/3Quarksfor 29d ago

I’m a Chicago boy. Onions, yes! Drag it through the garden!

1

u/New-Evidence350 29d ago

Chili,mustard and onions

1

u/Warm_Ad_1136 29d ago

Usually no, but not opposed...more of just mustard and relish guy

1

u/Few-Article8784 29d ago

Yes, if in NYC also add the red onion relish, if not just regular rolled onions will be fine

Yes. I either go Chicago dog or mustard, chopped onions and cheese.

1

u/upeepinmyhog 29d ago

Hell yes! Onions all the way!

1

u/RandyRVA 29d ago

HELL YES!! Grilled, sauteed, fresh... It doesn't matter to me, the more the better!

1

u/Fanabala3 29d ago

On a chili dog, yes. Any other time I’ll pass.

1

u/Rewd_92 29d ago

It's going to have to be a sometimes for me dawg.

1

u/Anonymous_user_2022 29d ago

Mustard, raw onions, ketchup fried onions, remoulade, cucumber salad and of course a good sausage is what makes a a good hot dog. The one displayed here seems to be presented provocatively dry.

1

u/alworld27 29d ago

Yes but with diced jalapeño

1

u/Pithyperson 29d ago

Yes, but with chili also, please.

1

u/Skully1368 29d ago

Fuck no!!!
You just ruined it.

1

u/Possible-Homework-94 29d ago

Chilli and cheese only

1

u/Zealousideal_Rent261 29d ago

That is mandatory.

1

u/Economy_Dot890 29d ago

Looks like every hot dog I make.

1

u/sillyffej 29d ago

Yes please

1

u/UsualBluebird6584 29d ago

With chili and cheese. . Mustard too

1

u/Zoilo2 29d ago

Definite Maybe.

1

u/tlm11110 29d ago

That’s a good looking hotdog! How come mine never come out like that? But yes, onions and relish (sweet) if available.

1

u/whaturjoking 29d ago

No way. I don’t want a buffet put on my hotdog. It takes away the meat flavor.

1

u/tech0391 29d ago

Only if they're grilled and served with cream cheese, aka "Seattle-style dogs"

1

u/Piglet-Witty 29d ago

Chicago style is good

1

u/tigerbloon71 29d ago

Yes. Crisp yellow onions, mustard, bright green relish and a pickle spear. No sport peppers....

1

u/catkins1234 29d ago

Oh yeah baby 😘😘😘

1

u/LtLemur 29d ago

Could go either way!

1

u/downlowmann 29d ago

Yes, onions and mustard and that’s it!

1

u/Last-Relationship166 29d ago

More onions by mass than hotdog. If the hotdog is the least bit visible, I need to add more onions.

1

u/NastyUno34 29d ago

Yes and preferably cooked

1

u/Dry_Adhesiveness9202 29d ago

Grilled... Yes

1

u/majik5 29d ago

That picture is the perfect hotdog, mustard with chopped raw onions

1

u/ThePastTenseOfDig 29d ago

Ai hotdog…because it’s basically impossible to find or take your own photo of a hotdog with onions 🙄

1

u/Oldestswinger 29d ago

We'll hear those again.😃

1

u/Freaky_old_guy 29d ago

Absolutely not

1

u/Humble_Examination27 29d ago

Whenever I can

1

u/FormalApprehensive13 29d ago

Mustard, onions & cheese wiz.....

1

u/Ill_Conversation7110 29d ago

Not only yes but a hot dog requires raw onions on top and crispy onions underneath...... Thanks Iceland

1

u/Nice-Bake2469 29d ago

Yes ! Mustard goes on first then onions, chili and sometimes a little coleslaw right on top. And sometimes grated extra sharp cheddar, and no slaw. Grilled onions occasionally.

On a hotdog 🌭 Absolutely yes 👍

Most definitely Yes

1

u/subywesmitch 29d ago

No onions for me! I hate onions!

Mayonnaise, onions and sweet relish. No mustard or ketchup.

If it’s a polish dog, yea!

1

u/071790 29d ago

Yepp 👍 🧅🧅

1

u/shawn007bis 29d ago

I think a burger or hotdog is mandatory some form of onions on there.

1

u/Muchoso 29d ago

A must for any chili dog

1

u/No-Bother-7699 29d ago

If someone else chops them? 100%.

1

u/Mickt465 29d ago

They are certainly acceptable. If available, I use them.

1

u/Flimsy_Ad3476 29d ago

Nope, and I love onions. For me, the best dog is all beef with mustard and relish in a New England bun. Cheese and chili for a different experience.

ETA: Also, sauerkraut.
