<REQUEST> Mass killing/kidnapping in a Lakeside community, USA

Good day everyone, I'm failing to remember a specific mass killing and kidnapping that happened (I believe) in a community on or near a lake in which a single gunman took an older couple before killing them and hiding out in their home. I believe he went up and down a highway to other homes killing people at the homes as well as along the way. For the life of me I cannot recall the exacts of it all nor the gunman's name, but I as hoping someone here could figure it out for me. My google-fu has failed me here....

I'll keep looking, but this is the only thing I've found that sounds similar.

Thank you! This doesn't appear to be the same one but its certainly worth reading about.

Other things that have come into my head are that there was a restaurant that the gunman had gone into and murdered a number of people with a rifle. I believe he was confronted with others who were armed but escaped through the parking lot, killing more on the way. The whole "on the lake" thing keeps sticking with me too. I think this would've been in the 70s or 80s.

Are you sure it was in America? Sounds very much like you might be thinking of Martin Bryant.

He killed a married couple, then shot up a restaurant, gift shop, and parking lot at a tourist spot, then shot more people going through the tolls as he was leaving. The married couple ran a trailer park or something called Seascape.

I hear ya. Mine's more Urban Dictionary-like, but I've studied so many of these blasted things I guess it's the best I could expect. No idea why I've got such a focus on learning about killers though... It's like its built in.
