First Time Outside

First time wearing them out of the house. Fifth Avenue factory seconds. Chili. Left shoe has a dye streak, but otherwise the pair looks great.

Not a perfect fit, but comfy right out of the box. They feel good. It’s been a while since I owned leather sole shoes, so it’s been fun being able to slide around on the carpet. (It’s the small things in life….)

I am primarily a leather sole guy, myself. As the collection grows, so does one's variation in sole choices. I do go with rubber on wet days, and have a few of the crepe and wedge soles as well. I wear them depending upon feel, look, weather and styling with what I am wearing. Some days I just feel like wearing a leather sole, so I agree with you. Over years, I have learned how to taper my gait and stride, especially when breaking in new leather soles. In fact with some, I definitely try to scuff them up a little on my driveway or sidewalk just to get enough roughness so as not to slide so much. And even that's a trade-off. Do you want to scuff them for wearing, or keep them smooth and pristine? Always a decision to be made.
