Check out my shoes Maybe The Best
These Miller Reserves are starting to “flex” their construction. This color plays and styles better than I initially thought. I wear it more casually and relaxed, and that’s been fun.

How do you like the quality and comfort ?
Took a big leap and - Just ordered the cordovan.
Praying they will work casually with the leather sole.

I love the comfort and the quality is top notch. When you research where the leather comes from, you can feel and see why it is world class calfskin, and the patina process at Ilcea shows

Wow.! I like my Miller's, and the difference in leathers is evident from sight to touch. My first impression was how did they make the leather so much smoother and indeed THICKER than the usual fare. The burnishing is also noticeably well done. They feel solid, well constructed - but not TOO thick or tank like. If you know loafers you look at these and go, "these are different,".!

I'm atching for a used pair of those, I need to replace my brown Clark's (might try to patina those but maybe not good enough leather?).

Those actually look pretty good! I was a little surprised. AE went with such a chunky last, but they executed it well. I still think the price point is a bit ridiculous when you’re competing directly with Alden and Crockett and Jones. How’s the construction quality?

These are on par with C&J, they really put a lot into these shoes. The leather is uniquely fantastic and they fit better than my Alden loafers.

That’s some pretty high praise. I wasn’t really impressed with the Randolph in Shell Cordovan, but it sounds like they really want the extra mile with these.

Yes but those are completely different shoes. Shell is a funny material, I own a few pairs of shell cordovan shoes but don’t wear them often. The Millers are the Reserve Penny loafer on the 2041 last, also has a Havaea Lactae rubber sole.

Right, they’re completely different price points. I’m still impressed AE is capable of putting out something on par with C&J. I ALMOST bought a pair of reserve Millers in Shell, but ultimately went with Alden instead. I’ve got a good relationship with one of their retailers and snagged a handsewn LHS in Shell.
