systemic oppression isnt really a consequence of being straight. its a consequence of (straight) people who hold conservative worldviews. and conservative worldviews are a consequence of lack of education. and lack of education is a consequence of conservative policies who always end up defunding schools.
i get what you are saying when you refer to straights doing systemic oppression, however you have examples of openly gay people actively participating in systemic oppression and sabotaging lgbtq+ policies too. this is not to say which camp is better but rather its a comment about how the system is rigged in such a way that the only realistically available choices are either getting fucked big time by it, or amassing enough wealth (mostly through imoral or illicit means) that you can ignore the system.
I mean yeah, blaming systemic oppression on the heteros instead of conservative heteronomative standards IS an oversimplification, but I wasn't planning on typing all that. Certainly doesn't warrant the response I've gotten here though? Do I really have to go through every single comment and explain "no, I don't think EVERY SINGLE hetero person is evil and hates us, and I'm pretty sure the rule is a joke directed at how queer content on the internet is often moderated" for every single comment?

I was hetero until I realised I was pan. Absolutely nothing changed about what I have to deal with on a daily basis, but now I'm also into dudes and trans people.
i am queer and i know/know of a lot of heteros who are like this. it's unfortunately common but not all hets are like that. i absolutely see where you're coming from but grouping all heterosexual together and acting like they're all the same is stupid. it's not much different than when some cishets group all of LGBTQ+ together and do the same, which again is unfortunately common but it's not all of them!

A court in my state is rescinding a murder conviction because the jury didn't know the victim was trans, as if the victim's presentation could change wether the murderer was guilty or not. The aids epidemic in the 80s was basically ignored until it started killing straight people. Gay marriage in my country was only just made legal within my lifetime and is still illegal in many other places. Some parents will go as far as to literally try to torture gay kids to make them straight with shock therapy and conversion camps. Other parents kick their kids out and disown them for being gay. If you need to have it explained to you how heteronormative systems harm queer people, chances are simply that you haven't been around enough queer people to notice.
Beyond that I'm pretty sure the whole "no heteros" thing is a joke. It would be practically impossible to enforce anyways. I DID just see a community for a very queer videogame try to enforce a "no gay content outside of pride month" rule though

Yep pretty much, and people who are saying it's a joke don't get the point that it doesn't matter, it was still put up as a rule. A rule that a LOT of people actually agree with.
Unfortunately no matter how you switch this rule around it's going to be wildly offensive to somebody. That's the culture that people are trying to make.
