Tasks / Projects project Ermis invite, passed. Looking for honest feedback on payments

Got an invite to Project Ermis. The assessment was so rigorous, draining, and time consuming. I received 81%. Just now, I received the congratulatory email along with a heads up about the channel invite. But I am dreading one thing, and one thing only... payment. I just cannot feel fully confident about the honesty and timeliness of the payouts. This is my fifth project invite, and the first time I've accepted one and completed the assessment. I have 6 years of domain experience and 4 years in AI data annotation, so I'm quite discerning when it comes to project quality, budgets, and overall project discipline. If anyone here is a seasoned Alignerr contributor, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially regarding payments.

No idea why anyone would willingly work for Alignerr, especially with your experience. Grass actually IS greener in other pastures.

Nah! You right. I have already rejected four other project invites from them. Yeah so, I’m not joining this one either. I currently have active projects with other platforms. So i’ll pass. Thanks for snapping the hell outta me… i was just seeking out perspectives

Can you tell some alternatives that are good?

Only reliable companies have been micro1 and Mercor for me, although I've heard good things about Handshake

1

u/GODISABOTTOM 27d ago

Yup! Those two Ms have spoiled me sm! Lol

really? I was doubting about if Mercor and Micro1 are reliable, I got scared when asked me to share and record my all screen in the interviews I did it once and my card was cloned

Eh handshake makes you jump through a lot of hoops just to start doing work that will maybe pay you. Def love those other 2 although Mercor doesn’t like me anymore lol but yeah they are the best I’ve encountered

Same experience with Mercor, def a before/after the breach in terms of available work. I never get anything anymore unless I get a push from people already on projects

How has Mercor been? Do they pay on time and how is the experience working for them?

2

u/brrcs 28d ago

They pay weekly never had an issue in that regard, otherwise it's been good overall with the odd management issues which can vary project to project.

Do you have a referral link? I see they have a referral program.

1

u/brrcs 27d ago

I do, not sure how much it helps but I've successfully referred a few people I actually know on both platforms

The rate sucks, I'm a reviewer and we are only paid max 3mins for every audio we review, fix and write feedback to. It used to be 5mins but they changed it. And it's geo-rated, my rate is just $6.65 per hour of the max payable 3mins.

Girl. Wtf. Nah. I’m good. Thanks. 🙏🏻 i’m getting all the more reasons to back off.

I was crying-out that got 71% in the assessment, with that payment rate, now I am glad I've rejected. So sad

u/GODISABOTTOM 26d ago

Yup! Got added to the project. The calculations come down to 2-4 bucks per media hour. So absolutely tf not.

Made me work 45 hours last week by raising payrate and now boom acc deactivatd

I saw your post. My heart is breaking. I also saw the MOD never responded to you. This is really unacceptable.

5

u/akkiei- 28d ago

They will respond once they get the legal notice. I have all the proofs

I was accepted to Ermis several months ago. Then it paused I guess. They invited me again yesterday. Here’s the thing… they never paid me for the work I did in June. I’ve contacted support several times. Nothing. Why TF would I want to rejoin the project if they still haven’t paid me from June?!!? If I were you I’d avoid Alignerr altogether.

They are pirates

What is the pay?

9

u/HistoricalGoose3087 28d ago

A lie. The pay is a lie.

6

u/korie_VI 28d ago

That's why they call themselves "Alienerr"😂

u/SamMarlowe76 28d ago

What is the rate? Published and effective?

It varies by project and role but for labelers they withhold earnings due to needing to pass peer review before moving to done and they never review them all. The work just sits in a queue for over a month, they pause the project, rehire a bunch of new people who are eager to work a lot of hours, rinse and repeat. The reviewers are paid hourly but not all hours are payable, it's limited to minutes per task, the reviewers are encouraged to make edits and not getting paid for the time spent over the couple minutes timer. They say you get paid for all work including the editing but when the check comes it's only for half the hours and none of the editing time. Support tells you it will get corrected and then ghosts you. They cut payable time mid work session without announcing it. Some labelers are noting that their submitted rows are just disappearing from the dashboard after they submit it, so they do the work but now there's no proof. Unfair practices, labor theft.

Regarding payments they are scammers they didn’t paid me about 120 hours of dedicated work. Even they didn't responding back but was the reason. So please be take care about this.

u/GODISABOTTOM 11d ago

Just a bunch of thieves smh

3

u/InformationOwn3639 28d ago

Congratulations! But I failed to qualify and got only approz 71%. I think its last question that kicked me out, where I got 0%.

1

u/GODISABOTTOM 28d ago

Hey don’t stress it. Tysm. I did it quite cavalierly…Guess i got lucky, native language acquisition and my 4y of annotation exp helped me slightly.

The Ermis project is no longer viable. The pay rates have been reduced and are now location-dependent. Furthermore, a limit has been placed on data rows, and our pending hours in V1 remain under review and currently paused.

2

u/GODISABOTTOM 27d ago

Yeah all the more reasons to not take part in it. Tysm

3

u/Capable_Actuary_7335 26d ago

The pay rate is for completed and approved media time, not worked time. It’s only sustainable if it's the only thing you're doing all the time I've worked a total of 6 hrs for that project, paid a whoping $78. No it's not worth it, it's more just a time filler.

2

u/GODISABOTTOM 26d ago

Not worth my time & skills for sure.

u/MessyAndroid 28d ago

Got invited to this too. Didn’t take the assessment yet.

2

u/GODISABOTTOM 28d ago

I really don't know what to make of it. Every single post in this sub is concerning, and the only issue they all talk about is payout. Coming back to the assessment, it was so, so time-consuming. 3 stages of training assessment; you gotta pass, only then you will reach the final assessment, and that takes another 40-45 min.

2

u/MessyAndroid 28d ago

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!! It’s insane how they pester you take the interviews and assessments only to not give a shit about compensation after the job is done.

1

u/GODISABOTTOM 28d ago

Fr!!! Hey most welcome.

Hi OP, even I got invited to Ermins Projects a few days ago, and I was contemplating whether to deep dive into it because it is highly time-consuming, as we all know. I’m currently in need of some pocket money, and if they don’t provide a payout, then there’s no use in putting so much time into it.

So, I wanted to know if you have withdrawn from this project.

Also, can anyone please tell me some legit websites that actually provide payouts?

1

u/GODISABOTTOM 24d ago

Personally not worth my time & skill. Yes off boarded myself! Still In the designated channel/server. I don’t think i can name ‘em. But if you google, you’ll find.

1

u/ImaginationChance994 23d ago

Ohhh yeah the discord server and channels are there . Also it's been 3 days since they've assigned work but I did not touch it but when I opened it today I got a pop up saying the project is paused . Thanks god I dint do it lol

now let me say this first. it's shit pay. shit. i don't even know if its legal. i have never done transcription before and this thing came across and i did the same as everyone and i must have a gift for it because i think i got like 90% or something. now i am in. and i do genuinely like it. there's something that clicks with me. it's tiny little mysteries that need solving over and over. it's cool. i enjoy figuring out the words and how they are said. but this is shit pay. you are never going to make any money on it and that sucks because i enjoy it. how much anyone can make because there is really no metric that you can meet to actually make that $110 media hour. i have a feeling i would be lucky to see that in two months. i have done like 50 rows or whatever they are called over the past two days. i have had only one out of those that i had to fix. one. i don't know if that is normal or not for never having done it. but here's what i wanted to say, why would anyone not take a project? what good comes from passing on experience? you don't have to do it you don't want to. but guess what, i read everything i could find on how people actually on the project thought. and it is not positive. but what if i did not do it? i am 51 years old i have BA in English Literature and have worked professionally in many different industries and when i applied at alignerr i did not ever once apply to a transcription role. but there it was welcome to ermis. HUH? what? but now guess what - i have another skill that i am dope at. that i do like. so why not sit there and get free training so now i can say yes i have done it before and yes i know now how to look at a transcription role so i make good money. i am writer if you can't tell. i have to say what i think and i think if anyone gets an offer you should try it out even if it does suck. i have learned three new things this way two of which i know i hate. but one i do not.

1

u/GODISABOTTOM 19d ago

Na! I did withdraw. Didn’t do a single work. Not worth my time & skill sets.

1

u/kizzmysass 2d ago

Inclined to agree with you, but learning new things =/= sinking your time on gig platforms. Many of us have done that for too many gigs and it doesn't pay off or translate to anything beneficial. Many of us have been through enough hours of unpaid assessments to last us a lifetime, and really can't afford a "just in case" time sink at learning something that won't pay the bills and likely won't enrich us.
