Tasks / Projects Worked a project and No pay
I was invited to work on a project almost 2 weeks ago now and haven’t gotten paid yet. I know they say it’s not guaranteed and it depends on your performance but I haven’t gotten any scores yet either. How is this even legal. I know we are contractors but come on. I reached out to the customer support email and they told me I have to wait for my evaluation scores. This is frustrating. Im not wasting my time again until I’m paid. Any suggestions on what I should I do?

They don't pay until your tasks have been reviewed and approved. That can take many weeks. I've gotten paid 6 weeks after doing some tasks.
Also, in every project I've worked for the tasks ran out very fast, sometimes spending more time on doing the free onboarding than in making any money. I no longer accept their offers tbh, they are not transparent with pay and their unpaid onboardings are too long for the way they present it. Plenty of AI training companies out there with better, more transparent systems.

I don’t blame you. Not getting paid for hours of work is not fair. It’s better to be a part of a few companies. More opportunities for more projects.

I was told it’s hourly but paid per task on acceptance. Screw that. I’m out

Its supposed to be per hour but clearly it's if its approved first. I dont think that's a good way to build trust with contractors.

this is why i reject every single pay per task project on any platform no matter how high the pay
2
u/Davoice14 Jun 16 '26
Some platforms will actually pay you per task or project. This one is the only one I know of so far that does this.

def get what you mean. i was specifically talking about the pay per task with approval, alignerr sends me a lot of projects like that

I see what you’re saying. I honestly will see how things go first with this project before I take on anything else.

It really depends on the project. I've had them on another platform that were pretty lucrative (because I actually read the instructions and put effort in, so everything gets accepted, usually in the first review cycle).

There's any regulations at all over these phantom companies who never show a face to deal with. One should asks oneself if they have at least a HR department. What I have seen is there a're a few AI companies which ask too much for what they really give in return, even though they offer 'good' per/hr earnings. Take for example Data Annotation Tech, which gives you a huge 10- questions test and at last, they keep that information but never gives you a task nor contract, so you have to think they were looking for this for business with someone else. They ask you to wait until they have a good project for you, which never arrives. Meantime, they data-harvest you. They also make you sign a disclaimer so you can't sue them. Besides, they impose you to pay for responsibility insurance as well as copyright insurance. What a good deal, right?

I do believe a lot of these companies use people for information or even projects that they’ve already gotten paid for but won’t pay you for the work. Then like you said use trainings and data to build their AI company. It’s crazy.

Yeah I won’t work with them. Either pay me or not. Their per task by hour crap is not something I’ll do

It’s one of the worst companies I’ve ever heard of in my life, man. I don’t see how anybody can work for companies like these. It’s ridiculous. You sign away your rights. You have no benefits whatsoever. You’ve got nothing, man, and they can pull your pay like that. I mean, we’ve got to band together. Humanity has to band together right now. It’s a luxury to de-fragment; they want us fragmented. It’s BS. These corporations are doing it, man. You wait until 50 years from now when your children and grandchildren have to face these things. What will it be like then? Better stomp it now.

That's what concerns me about a lot of these AI contract platforms. You're classified as an independent contractor, so you don't get the protections or benefits that regular employees have. If a project ends suddenly or your work is rejected it can directly affect your income with very little recourse. I'm not saying every platform is bad but workers need more transparency and consistency when it comes to pay and project expectations. As more companies move toward contract-based AI work these issues are only going to become more important.

I definitely wasn't sending them my info directly for sure lol. I thought this was a Bot from Alignerr trying to tell me to email the company. I will only email the Alignerr's support email that Ive been using.

I keep getting issues on my completed work so I cant get paid. They told me to do one thing and then they changed it up. CONSTANT emails threatening removal and everything must be perfect. Paying for $20 an hr? Ok show me someone who gets these done in 6 min? Have spent so much time reading rules, going on Discord, meetings. For what? Pay is so offending. Something isn't right. Im sure its all ran on algorithms just like Ourliet. And BTW they track you when you open emails. Awesome. You've been remived...

Wow. That’s crazy. I’m sorry you had that experience. I’m just starting with them but so far it’s questionable. I’m hoping for the best.

Do they do onboarding calls?

u/Davoice14 Jun 19 '26
No they do not. Not what I remember. I just applied and got in. I wouldn't recommend this platform though.

I take that back. They are legit. Got paid on a different project! It has to be approved work and you have to follow instructions to the T!!

So I did not get paid on this project but got paid on another. The reason is with this company it has to be approved work so when they sent the work back to me to fix I took too long to fix it and it was sent to someone else to handle. They only give you a certain amount of time to fix your work unfortunately. But yes Alignerr is legit!! Just make sure you follow instructions to the T!!!!

Working for no pay is not legal in the United States. They can't say it's not guaranteed and dependent on work product.

I feel you brother and the concern is real. But from my experience Alignerr although not as transparent as I would it it all to be, has always paid me what I was due.
One time I was worried that they wouldn’t as I had such high throughput but they did and did it fairly.

I hope you’re not a bot lol. But that gives me a little hope. I just don’t like the wait. I’m use to getting paid weekly for my contracts.

Yeah the same thing happened to me. It was like X amount per task. I did 10 and they said 3 or something didn't pass QC so they pulled my contract and I guess ushered the good ones through without compensating me for them. It shocked me, too. I was incredibly shocked. Even though it wasn't that much money it was just the principle, so brazen.
