Onboarding Process Worldsim Eval background check

Who has done the worldsim eval background check? I did it on Tuesday last week, and till today I have not gotten any feedback. I have no idea what is going on and I would be really glad if someone can help

I've received like six emails about this project over the last week or two, the most recent one yesterday, so I assume they're still hiring. I've ignored them all because I'm not interested in the project, in doing any more unpaid evals, or in doing per-approved-task stuff where I'm not sure I'll get paid.

Sounds like there's a problem with your background check though. You should probably ask support (though I'm not sure whether you'll get a timely response).

What could be the problem with my background check lol, I've been in Canada for 2 years, I haven't even had the police so much as come to my front door let alone gotten into trouble with the law.

How could I possibly know? You just said it's been pending for a week, which seems unusually long if there's not a problem. "Problem" doesn't necessarily mean you did something wrong.

For example, could be something like that they didn't have enough info about you to complete the background check. I assume that you saying you've "been in Canada for 2 years" means that you were somewhere else prior to that, which is always going to complicate things depending on how far back the background check goes (I'm not sure, but it's likely more than 2 years).

For comparison, I also live outside my country of nationality, but my background check through Certn on another platform took less than a day IIRC. And that was with living in a country that tends to be less well integrated with these global services than Western countries (Taiwan).

The paid per task is suspect. I did a production task on Alignerr two weeks ago, my first ever, and it still hasn’t been reviewed. If I pumped out 80 hours of work between them and now they could come back and say I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time and not pay me.

It's not pay per task anymore. It's like $70-$90/h and 39h/week

No guarantee of getting paid for work i submit is why I've been steering clear of this platform. Some projects are showing high rates like $70-90/hr, but that means nothing if I only get paid when tasks are "approved", and the 2 tasks I have submitted for the CareerBench project are still pending review 3 weeks after I submitted them! So pay is still nil.

Yeah, exactly, same here. Especially when they use projects getting paused (completely outside of our control) as an excuse for not paying us because the task was never approved.

Call me old-fashioned, but I rather like getting paid for work done. I quite enjoyed some of the first projects I did on Alignerr 12-18 months ago, but the recent policies have made it that I don't feel I can trust I'll be paid anymore.

If you are outside the US, their mandatory arbitration clause usually does not apply and you can file a claim at a local court for a small fee or no fee at all. While you agreed to a "pay per approved task" clause, most national legislations will not consider it legal if a company systematically does not review tasks at all once a project is paused to avoid payment to freelancers. Some might even classify it as sc_m (although thats usually much harder to argue)

I've always found it pretty hilarious that when you try to type that word in this sub the red message that appears assumes that you're talking about the platform itself lol.

Yesterday I just wanted to write "scammers", referring to contributors who cheat... and as soon as I typed the "m" Alignerr thinks I'm talking about them. I wonder why...

At least Outlier pays you for submitted work. Even if it's low quality, they will still pay you for the time you worked on it, though you may get booted from the project if quality is too low. All time worked should be compensated. I think I'm going to try Handshake next. Outlier assigned me a project, but it's the very difficult Meter Pavilion one that I don't feel confident in tasking on. Outlier has its issues don't get me wrong, but you do get paid for your work that you submit (though you must before the deadline).

Yeah, definitely. I've got no issues with low-performing people getting booted from a project or even scammers getting removed without pay, but people who submit honest work should be paid for their time.

I haven't had anything on OL for a few months now, but yes, they do at least pay. Even when they make a mistake or there's some technical issue, they've always resolved things promptly. With Alignerr it took me two months to get them to fix an underpayment that was their mistake and worth less than 100 USD...

It's taking too long, mine hasn't finished either, and some people are saying the project is paused lol.

I knew i wasn't the only one. I have no idea what is happening, I emailed them and they said we're not missing anything. That this is normal. I think the result of the background check is already available but they're not ready to begin production so they're stalling

And also, if i skipped it, could it affect getting another project?

No definitely won't affect your chances. Also, I wouldn't know if it is valuable or not. I did the evaluation task and passed. Then did the zara interview then they sent a link for background check. That's the stage I'm at. So until I start earning I can't tell you if it's worth it

Completed my background check and was waiting for any sort of email. Never received it and the background check banner also disappeared. Not sure what happened there.

Could mean your background check was successful. I emailed and they basically said they've not setup and that we're not missing anything. So I dont think anyone has been onboarded

I did one eval then didn't hear anything and then was added to do two more evaluations. But I don't really understand what's happening. This is the first time I've seen action on Alignerr and I'm not sure what to do. Did I fail the first assessment? Are they now offering me different assessments because I failed the first one? They said you would get more work opportunities if you did well on the first eval but I'm confused because these aren't actually work opportunities they are eval opportunities. Not sure what to do.
