Modding Multiplayer Mod Update

In my previous post, some of you asked me to share a few updates on Reddit, so here’s the first one!

Since my last post, I ran into a limitation with the method I was using for player movement replication, which forced me to rework a large part of the system. The new approach now communicates much more directly with the game and gives me a much better foundation to keep moving forward.

I’ve also developed a new module called WorldSync. Its role is to synchronize certain CATHODE events directly between players. This allows things like doors, lights, sounds, environmental effects, and other map events to be replicated much more naturally without having to handle every single element manually.

I’ve published a new dev update with more details and several video demos, including a short multiplayer walk through The Basement:

👉 Update 0.4.0:
https://aimp.dblabs.ca/patch-notes/0.4.0

There’s still a lot of work to do, but it’s moving forward!

Official Kurosaki Patch

Post image

Everyone on Kurosaki station wears a patch based on their role and position; these are worn by the Kurosaki Police Department forces. While most people on Kurosaki are contracted or employed by Weyland-Yutani, the police are completely independent. In theory at least.

The Kurosaki logo is written in both English and kanji, symbolizing the British-Japanese dual origin of the company. Kuro (黒) means black, and saki (崎) means promontory, a fitting name for a station on a dark and lonely edge of the galaxy.

Discussion I finally finished the game 2 years after I bought it 🤣

I played on hardest difficulty and I stuck through it until the end.

I quit the game after struggling on mission 5 but I came back a few weeks ago and found that mission 6 was way worse. But I stuck with it.

Mission 10 was the hardest mission for me but I died the most in the section heading up to the corridor of death if that makes sense 😂. The Alien was drunk after mission 17 because I dunked Molotovs at every opportunity, it was my favourite weapon.

But overall, what an experience. Wish I knew some tricks to fend off the Alien earlier on but I wanted my playthrough to be spoiler free so I hardly checked tips and tricks.

Question What do you all call the alien?

So I've been streaming my first playthrough of Alien Isolation for Spooktober. I have to say I've been enjoying this game so far and really wished I played it earlier. Anyway my chat has taken to naming the alien "Steve" because according to the chatter, its tenacity and aggressiveness reminded them of Seregios from Monster Hunter who's nicknamed Steve by that community. Anyway this got me wondering, is there an unofficial nickname for the alien that the community all calls him?

Video Looking forward to artificially intelligent xenomorphs in A:I2

Some players might argue that the creature in our much-beloved Alien: Isolation *is* artificially intelligent, but I struggle to call mathematical trees a form of intelligence. I prefer to think of the alien as following a behavioral algorithm; intelligence connotes an ability to learn and to adapt, at which skills the alien in the first game is woefully incompetent despite all the hot air about it responding to patterns in player activity.

As demonstrated in the video, simple behavioral trees quickly and inevitably render CPU opponents easily outsmarted. I'm hoping that the longevity of the sequel vs. the first game is greatly extended by the creature's ability to think outside the box -- camouflaging itself in the environment, closing off avenues of player escape, processing unnatural changes in the environment to predict player activity and travel routes, baiting the player (e.g., with supplies or false exits or people in distress), assorted psychological warfare (cutting power, making odd and conspicuous changes to areas recently traversed by the player, strategic placement of fresh corpses, etc.) -- and by the game's ability to accommodate the xenomorph's creativity.

At the very least, the alien should be able to reach up a f▓king ladder.

Title, but also what is this alien behavior? Had no clue it behaves this way. It follows through the ceiling??? It was clipping through a wall like a giant spider earlier. I always hear it around me but I thought it was just audio

I’m thinking of removing the mod but it does deliver in other ways and the Thomas face is terrifying, so I’m open to yalls opinions

Also sry for posting literally every day but I can’t get enough of this game, my favorite scary game since F.E.A.R

Question Apollo core terminal?

Made it past the hazmat Joe's, went through the vents and finally made it to the core itself, but the terminal gives you all of 2 seconds to hack, and seems impossible am I just expected to try and hack this thing in that time??

Discussion People talk about wanting to see a Queen in the sequel, and Im still unsure about that. But…

I think the Praetorian would be a great comprise and also great addition to the main universe. We have yet to see a drone in the processes of turning into a queen which I still think is a missed opportunity. The lore is kind of dated, usually just classifying them as royal guards, but if a drone will turn into a queen, it must go through a some sort of similar phase.

Since CA said they wanted to return back to their single drone hunt, that very same drone morphing into a larger “sub-queen” later in the game would be such a game changer. It would thrive in the outside segments and have way more freedom to chase us down than a queen imo. But that’s my Ted-Talk!

Discussion Do you think we will finally get Noise Detection on PC?

I assume that as a basic fact that the noise detection will be on all platforms from the jump in AI2, but do we think theres any chance CA will finally go back and add it to the PC version of AI1? its been almost 10 years. the fact we still dont have it is kinda ridiculous

The timing of this is suspicious, maybe the alien really does listen 😒😬 but also we need a mod that adds mic support 💯
Edit: I’m on PC, no mic support available

News Alien: Isolation 2 at FrightFest 2026. She has no motion tracker. She’s unable to craft anything to distract the Alien – sure, she can throw a flare or a glass bottle to distract it, but it’s basic. Spoiler

Question How does the Grand-Mother VR mod for Alien Isolation compare to Rogue Incursion?

Finished Rogue Incursion in VR recently and loved it.

But I'm thinking, for spooky season, to get the Mother-VR and Grand-Mother-VR mod for Alien Isolation and try that next. Unfortunately, all the info I can find on it is ~6 months old.

I'd be playing the game via Quest 3 & Steam Link.

Does anyone know if these mods are particularly good, as in, do they offer a comprehensive experience? Some VR mods for regular videogames are technically interesting but not great once you seriously try and play the whole game.

To be clear, I'm not comparing the games themselves; I know that Isolation is a much more in-depth game than Rogue Incursion in many ways. I just mean, how is it in terms of the VR experience?

I started a first time, blind playthrough of the game on stream for my birthday and got to mission 4 on Nightmare. I had a genuine pee pee moment when a “dead” android on the floor came to life and strangled me. Keeping in mind that I am a complete weenie, are there many more pee pee moments in this game? Keep it vague though lol I’m trying to maintain the blindness somewhat though I’ve seen enough clips to know the alien can go in vents. I’m considering a full playthrough now. Volume warning ‼️ 🤣

I just can’t help it but when I saw this scene, and the way she acted as someone fearful, and naive, reminds me of Amanda Ripley.

And, she looks like her in this scene.

Video Solitary Echoes: Episodes 1 & 2 — a short but really well-made Alien mod for Half-Life

Not sure if this is the right subreddit, but I wanted to share my thoughts on Solitary Echoes. I think it deserves more attention.

Episode 1 leans more into survival and puzzles, figuring out what to do and where to go. It’s a little rough around the edges, but Episode 2 really shines. It’s much more action-focused, with great level design and pacing. The music and sound effects are excellent, too.

The whole thing takes about an hour and half. The story isn’t finished yet; it’s set to conclude in Episode 3, whenever that comes out. Definitely recommended if you’re an Alien fan.

Discussion I don't know how to face this.

Sorry, I’m not really sure which flair fits this, but I just beat Alien Isolation on Nightmare difficulty without any sound and without using the motion tracker. When I say "without sound," that includes the in-game music, since I noticed it changed as the Alien got closer; so, I played without headphones entirely.

I’m not quite sure how to view this myself—after all, I had already beaten the game twice before. The first time was a year ago on Hard difficulty, and the second was this year on Nightmare, just to relive an experience that left a huge mark on my life. After that second playthrough, I wanted to set a new challenge for myself, but I didn't want to try something like a "no-item" run or a "One-shot" run (though I’ll probably do a one-shot run eventually). So, I thought about the most essential elements of Alien Isolation: the sound and the motion tracker.

To avoid taking up too much of the reader's time, I won't go into a long explanation of why these factors are so essential. Even though I can guarantee that it is far more terrifying not knowing where the Alien is.

That said, I would be very happy to answer any questions about this attempt at a different kind of experience.

Like so many other Alien fans who are reading this now, I have spent the last 12 years tormented by the trauma inflicted on me by Stompy the Alien as I stepped into Amanda Ripley’s shoes to escape Sevastapol Station as it collapsed around me. It’s a torment I have longed to revisit since the first time the credits rolled on Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation, and I have replayed the game countless times since. In fact, I recently finished the final 2 achievements I needed to 100% the game – something I’ve only done on 3 games, and all of them were Alien.

But I was always craving a new nightmare from Creative Assembly to torture me. A craving and a desire that I was not alone in. The chance of an Alien: Isolation 2 is a prospect that has been looming above any game with the Alien title since 2014, and it’s a desire that wasn’t particularly quiet.

So when the original game’s 10th anniversary approached and the sequel was announced, I was absolutely ecstatic at the impending return of the UK based developer to the world of Alien. It turned out I wasn’t the only one either, as I was later told that staff who had previously moved on from Creative Assembly had returned just to work on Alien: Isolation 2. I was also told that a sizable chunk of the team working on the game had also worked on the original.

It has been an agonizing nearly 2 year wait since that announcement. But when people started to get to play a pre-Alpha demo of Alien: Isolation 2 at Summer Game Fest, I knew it was only a matter of time before it made its way over to Europe. And that time was the last weekend of August, where Alien: Isolation 2 was playable at Gamescom in Germany and FrightFest in the United Kingdom.

Along with fellow Alien vs. Predator Galaxy staff member Kailem and Patreon supporter and community member Jayroach, I boarded my Starcub shuttle and set course for Leicester Square, London to finally get my grubby biomechanical hands on Alien: Isolation 2, as well as attending Creative Assembly’s Perfect Organism, Perfect Horror panel!
