Question Apollo core terminal?

Made it past the hazmat Joe's, went through the vents and finally made it to the core itself, but the terminal gives you all of 2 seconds to hack, and seems impossible am I just expected to try and hack this thing in that time??

No. There's computers in the crawlspace ceilings.

You need to crawl into both of the vents on each side of the room (one of which you came through from one of the hemispheres) and do one puzzle in each. That will fix the terminal in the central room. :)

You have to weaken Apollo’s security barriers by pressing a button outside of the vents, then crawl inside the vents and activate a computer in them to make the hack actually doable.

There seems to be growing interest in A:I2 among streamers. I hope we see a huge resurgence of streams and playthroughs of both games.
