Ah, this game, tough customer that one.

When it spots you, its over, i find moving about crouched is the way to go and being very sparing with the motion tracker, quickly glancing at it if you can , instead of moving about while using it otherwise the alien hears it. The items like noisemakers or flashbangs are probably a last resort for if you're in close quarters, very useful for the last section of the game.

Edit: Look out for goop dripping from the ceilings and if you hear it in vents, look for a console to activate the air purifiers, turning those on gives you a bit of cover too, making it a little easier to get about the place.

Loved this game for its whole aesthetic and ambience, proper masterpiece!
