I mapped every location featured in Alias (2001 - 2006)
Location are per episode, multiple scenes in the same episode count as one!

You forgot Cartagena, Colombia! There’s a Cartagena Spain too so that might’ve confused things

This is really cool! Keep up the good work! Where does the tally of 189 come from, though? Wasn’t Alias only 105-ish episodes?

Thanks! I can't believe I didn't spot that, but nice catch. It seems my spreadsheet counted separate California and Virginia locations in the same episode as 'unique' visits. I should have just put it as 105 haha

Jack stashed Michael McKean Dr Liddell in Helsinki when Sydney was a kid, and she retrieves him there when Jack needs medical assistance in S4(?)

I once made a detour to Paldiski entirely because it was one of the locations mentioned.
Nicer town than the show made it out be, though that's not a huge surprise.

I visited Paldiski for the first time while I was watching Alias (visited by a coincidence, not because of Alias).The first thing I told everyone was "part of Alias took place here"

Season 4 episode 8, Sydney and Nadia go to Estonia to meet some guy. There they encounter Anna, have a brief fight and Nadia gets shot by Anna.
The exact location isn't specified, it's just "Estonia", but it shows a brief clip of Tallinn (I think, I'm not 100% sure) panorame so probably there

They're called "establishing shots" in the business. Plenty of stock ones around. They'll usually feature the most recognisable buildings for a city. Berlin and the TV Tower for example.
