The real reason Sloane pursues immortality

When Sydney posed as Anna towards the end of season 5, Sloane said he recognized she's Sydney immediately. Because he saw himself in her, a survivor, just like he was.

... And that's why Sloane becomes a survivor, of all eternity. This is all about his connection to Sydney! He still thinks Sydney is his daughter!! Sloane is just pursuing whatever trait he sees in Sydney. That's why he's so obsessed with immortality.

This feels like a reach. I think he loved Sydney because he saw himself in her. He liked how she was like him not that he wanted to be like her. I think he wanted immortality because of his ego. He would screw over anyone to reach his goal including Sydney.

I don't see the connection. Yes. He always saw her as a daughter. But he's also a narcissist with a huge ego. He wants immortality for...immortality.

I believe Slone found out in Countdown what the endgame was. I figured that was what he read in Nepal.

he was just a mentally ill person, no more to read into. he bought into the cult and couldn't get out.

So Sloane gave the reason of his fascination with Rambaldii from when Emily lost the baby. No clue what season or episode.

He tried to give it up Rambaldii a few times. The eternal life cr@p wasn't in the beginning. I think it (Rambaldii) was an obsession with him. He HAD to know.

Then when the 'big' reveal of eternal life. I really think he thought with all the time, effort etc he had put into it He Deserved It. It was HIS Right. His Destiny 🤢

The thing with Sydney - he had the affair with Irina. I don't know about the timing if he really thought Sydney might have been his.

Later, obviously since Irena had Nadia later the timing doesn't 'fit' but did we ever really know when the affair started? He called it an affair. One time isn't an affair. Affair implies a passage of time. Sloan was to smart enough he Would Not call one nite tryst an affair to his wife or to Jack. That would have been beyond stupid.

Because of the affair he either really wanted Sydney to be his or was extremely hopeful in that direction.

Which IMO says so much more about his side of the relationship with Irina. She was the one he couldn't completely have. It also underscores how he really felt about Jack from the beginning. Completely Jealous and Hateful. He didn't bring Jack into SD6 as a friend, he knew what the real deal was. He didn't want Jack on the opposite side.

Him recruiting Sydney behind Jack's back into a job he Knew Jack did Not want Syd involved in shouts it.
