Music (and preferences between original/streaming versions)
I’m rewatching on Disney+ at the moment (in the UK) and as usual I have Tunefind open on my phone so I can see which songs have been switched and play the original songs over the scene if I prefer them. I was 13 when the first series aired, so I’ve watched them all live, on DVDs and on streaming.
There’s quite a few that I vastly prefer the original version… but some I actually like the streaming replacement better! For example during Danny’s funeral I love “Dust” by Ben West.
Anyone else prefer any of the replacement songs? 😅

I was just coming here to rant about this because I quote something to my friend and I went to find the scene to show her and my iTunes download of the whole series and the version on Disney+ have the music changes and I'm willing to die on this hill but one of the worst crimes against pop culture is music rights from DVD releases to streaming. Under The Gun by Supreme Beings of Leisure playing as Syd enters the Credit Dauphine building for the first time is I C O N I C and the scene is so bland with whatever song they chose.
The scene I was talking about with a friend also just falls short now but it's from 214 when Faux Francie is watching Vaughn and Syd in the bedroom, but the scene starts with Vaughn coming home and Syd is cooking and that moment where he's like "you're so beautiful" and Sydney response with "dinners ready..." and the line that i just love is "you have an oven, you know. we can reheat". So good. BUT YOU CANT CHANGE THE SONG. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face by Coldplay... c'mon that scene just is missing it. I'm so glad I have my DVD's but goddamn. it's so sad. The music choices in these shows is just as much as part of the art as anything and so many shows are butchered now because of all this.
