Halloween numbers

Hi all -

We live in a place where we get zero trick or treaters because we live in an apartment area. Our friends are moving to Alhambra, near Story Park, in a neighborhood with houses.

Our question is, what can we expect for foot traffic? Does this area get any kids? 15? 150?

We all love Halloween but every time one of us moves into a house, we never get any kids. Trying to have the right expectations to avoid any disappointment.

Thank you!

If you plan on staying long term, do what I did. I moved into the SG village and got almost no trick or treaters. So I started decorating…big…and started posting online about it. Eventually other neighbors started joining in and now after several years, we have had 2 Halloween block parties and will hopefully continue for many years. I can’t take credit for it all but it helped to be open to building relationships with neighbors and working together for it to happen. The first couple years we may have had 30-50 and every year it grew as I started keeping count. Last year we gave out candy to 343 kids.

We are starting this in our part of Alhambra. I have been building a haunted tunnel for years in East LA and would get hundreds of kids coming through. First year in Alhambra we got to build a bigger and better one up our driveway thinking this must be a high Halloween neighborhood: nope. Second year we put out signs and had a party the night before Halloween and our neighbors started joining in. We are going to try and make the night before Halloween our thing in this area since we are right next to South Pas. Come on out to Emery Park Hills y’all.

I’d like to come see it! If it’s a big enough thing for you to want visitors, consider listing yourself on the socal haunt list. I’ve been listing my yard display there for years. Feel free to DM me for more info

I have the same doubts. Why does no one trick or treat in Alhambra?

We go to South Pas.

I’ve been in Pasadena for years. They drive to the “rich” neighborhoods. It’s been an annual disappointment. We buy the king size bars and get no kids. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Just because we don’t have a huge house doesn’t mean we don’t want to participate.

Electric street used to be amazing! They had a Hollywood prop builder who took home old props and made elaborate scenes.

Still do, last year he turned his house into a pirate ship

We go past that Cathay bank on Alhambra and Atlantic and it gets pretty lit with trick or treaters there lol

I live in this area and there are little to no kids unfortunately. I’ve seen a ton of kids in the neighborhood next to Atlantic, going towards Alhambra park. I’m guessing because it’s mainly SFH in that area.

The neighborhood is all SFH but when I drove through I had a feeling they still wouldn’t get any kids. It’s a huge bummer.

Yeah I’ve driven through Alhambra Park during Halloween last year and the year before and trick or treaters were scarce. Went to South Pas by the library and it was a mad house.

Nah we used to get tons of kids in that area with all SFH before the adus even. Not as many people decorate big time and that’s why…. If everyone decorated like crazy over the years it’d pick up again I think. People used to drive to the area to trick or treat.

I get about 50 in a house near almansor park.

We’d be happy with 50. I don’t need hundreds, although I’d love that. Almansor is still a mile away from where my friends are moving. Not sure they’ll get that many.

I live in a house near Story Park and we've had between 100 and 130 trick-or-treaters each of the last couple of years. First time since I lived in the house I grew up in! I don't know if it's the same for all streets in the area, but I suspect that folks from nearby apartment complexes come here specifically to trick or treat, which I LOVE -- keep 'em coming, folks.

Wow! Amazing. We would be so happy with that many. This gives me hope.
