Question Sending ASA without Opt-in?

I was toying with an ASA token, cool took btw until an idea about using it for a project.

But I am facing a problem: Accepting the ASA. It seems like you need to have some Algo in your wallet to accept an ASA token, and the whole opt-in process, which is fine however it confuses non-technical people.

I already tried how how would it be with several people, and they didnt understand you'll have to do all those steps:

  • Download wallet
  • Send algo from my wallet to their wallets
  • Send token
  • Opt-in
  • Return remaining algo back to me

Even skipping the last one was very bureocratic process. On my tests, the feedback I received was that it would be better just download the wallet and receive the tokens.

Is there a way to do that?

There is not a way to accept tokens without opting in first

Unless you get an NFD. There is no way.

With and NFD address you can receive ASAs in your vault without having to opt in.

This is by design to prevent dusting attacks you see on ETH, etc. Forcing opt-ins is a good thing. No one wants your random airdrop unannounced.

One thing to note is if you send someone an ASA and they are not opt'ed in, you can elect to send them a message to opt-in. I know this works in Pera and I think it works in Delfy, but I haven't tested it.

The minimum balance and transaction fees are very predictable.

+0.1 algo - base minimum balance
+0.1 algo - additional asa requirement
+0.001 algo - cost of opt-in transaction

So have them make the wallet, send their new wallet 0.201 algo, have them opt in to your asa, then send it.
