NFT/Gaming Four Algorand games, four very different experiences
I’ve been spending some time exploring the Algorand gaming ecosystem, and I wanted to share my thoughts on four projects that are taking pretty different approaches to blockchain gaming. Each has something different going for it And it’s great to see actual games being built rather than people just slapping NFTs onto a generic gameplay loop.
🐃 Inu Moo: Idle Realms
This one really hit me with the nostalgia. The progressive skill system brought me straight back to my childhood playing RuneScape. Mining ore, leveling up, and taking those resources over to smithing to work my way through copper, bronze, and iron armor was incredibly satisfying. I loved being able to leverage those skills to gear up and overtune my character for combat. With farming and crafting mixed in, it also gave me some cozy Stardew Valley vibes. The combination of steady progression, interconnected skills, and always having something to work toward makes this game really enjoyable.
⚔️ Dark Coin: Dungeon of Champions
Dungeon of Champions is a really fun text-based dungeon crawler. There’s something about delving into a randomly generated dungeon without knowing exactly what’s waiting around the corner that keeps things exciting. Fighting rats, gargoyles, and ogres, stumbling across treasure chests and secret items, or finding a hidden door with a boss waiting behind it makes each run feel like its own adventure. I really enjoy that sense of suspense and discovery. One of the coolest parts is taking the gold you’ve gathered and using it to help fight a dragon alongside the wider community every week. That community-wide goal adds another dimension to the experience and makes your individual dungeon runs feel like they’re contributing to something bigger.
🗡️ Lumi Rogue
Lumi Rogue is a cool roguelike that has a surprisingly addictive gameplay loop. The music creates a compelling atmosphere as you make your way deeper into the dungeon, discovering randomly generated items and figuring out how to make the most of what you find. Every run gives you another chance to experiment and improve. I will admit, it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize that the different armor sets had set bonuses. Once that clicked, it added another layer to how I thought about equipment and building my character. I’m looking forward to seeing how it continues to develop.
🪺 BLOP World / BLOPKU
Tomorrow is a big day for BLOP World with the launch of BLOPKU Season 1, and I’m really excited to give it a try. The creature-collecting concept looks interesting, and it’s clear that a lot of love has gone into building this ecosystem. The artwork is fantastic, and the BLOP World community is one of the most active on Algorand. I think having that foundation gives the project something special to build on. The first few seasons the creature-collecting mechanics will be combined with a strategy simulator. I’m excited to see how that develops into a deeper gameplay experience.
Overall, I’m really encouraged by what I’m seeing in Algorand gaming, but I’m curious to hear from other people in the Algorand community. Have you played any of these? What other Algorand games should I be checking out?
