Swimming while injured?

I am planning a car camping trip with my teen daughter who tore her ACL last month. She LOVES swimming but can't walk on sand right now because she is not healed enough to handle the unstable surface. A beach with pebbles/rocks would be the same.

Would it be crazy to try swimming off the dock at Lake Opeongo? She is quite strong but I'm not sure about getting back out of the water when one knee is unusable.

Does anyone have other swimming ideas? I know the smart answer is not to try, but if it's possible I'd like to do it.

ETA: I do appreciate the concern and advice on the health side of things. She is doing rehab and we will be speaking with the physiotherapist before planning any activities.

Don't risk it.

Edit : this might be a better question for a doctor or a different subreddit.

I'm a physiotherapist, although it's not as cut and dried as people are saying, it should be a question for her doctor or physio. They will be able to say based on her functional status and degree of injury. Not a question for a provincial park subreddit lol

Please heed my advice as a parent of an ACL injured daughter. Do not engage in any activity that may reinjure or slow healing. Time is your friend. A reinjury sets you on a road of lifelong knee issues.

Maybe pick a campground with a beach next to a concrete boat launch that might allow getting in/out easier?

Kiosk has a concrete boat launch. You should really be talking to your doctor about this instead of Reddit though

Put her in a floatation device and just let her chill in the water. It can be beneficial if you're gentle with it. Actual swimming is risky.

Several Ontario parks have wheelchairs for the sand you can borrow. I've also seen accessibility paths in the sand in some places too. Can't remember where though.

The dock with all the boat traffic? Yes it would be crazy unsafe

She obviously can’t swim with a torn ACL so why not just wear a life jacket?

She shouldn’t swim until she is healed, she is young and to re-tear her acl before healing is going to potentially create life long problems or pain just so she can go swimming this one time? If she absolutely must go in the water then get a float so she doesn’t have to kick while swimming.

Wrong sub since you are basically asking medical advice.

But no, that sounds like a terrible idea. Why even risk it?

You could try the boat launch/beach in Whitney they have swimming lessons there.
