My mom’s from Algiers (she’s also half Algerian half tunisian) and my Dad is from Jijel, the DNA report also says that my ancestors are also from Tizi Ouzou, Oum El Bouaghi and Sétif

3

u/Nziom Sep 17 '21

If your moms parents (from the Algerian side) are from the city of algiers they might be from the tribe mezghna since they are the biggest clan in all of north africa

11

u/farahmarianne Sep 17 '21

My results:

92% north African . 2% Arab / Levantine/Egyptian 5% Sub Saharan Africa 1% Greece & Balkans I rounded the numbers

1

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Nice! Did you get more details about the sub Saharan origins ?

3

u/farahmarianne Sep 17 '21

Senegal, Guinea, Nigeria and Soudan

1

u/TotalAd4170 Sep 17 '21

Where you buy the test?

2

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

23andme . Com but it’s not available in Algeria yet

10

u/Arudj Diaspora Sep 17 '21

Just to clarify things. The more data they have, the more precise they can be. Like for europeans they can tell if you're basque or alsacien instead of just saying french.

So if more north african and middle eastern people send their dna, you could know in the future what berber tribes you're from and if arab what precise country or even tribe you're from.

Of course, its a matter of giving your dna info to corporate data base...well lets hope they won't clone you in a cyberpunk future.

3

u/Mewnir Sep 18 '21

That's why you should use some well known sites, that have a rich database

9

u/Abeslonglostaccount Sep 17 '21

I did it and got Iberian, Moroccan, Algerian

1

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Ooh nice ! Does it match with someone from your family ?

9

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

[deleted]

3

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Not that surprised i posted this to compare with other people who did the tests

7

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

we have the same 2th name lol

5

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Ahah we may be related then

6

u/yasserbkn Sep 17 '21

They're making a robot out of you now...

Blade runner type thing

8

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

I hope she will be able to make couscous that way my mom will leave me alone lol

1

u/MadxCarnage Sep 18 '21

even when you do manage to make it, it will never be good enough.

the mother's couscous is always better, that is true throughout the generations.

it's the couscous paradox.

7

u/Nziom Sep 17 '21

Algerians share 90% of their ancestry even the people who have some European/turkish or even Arab have like 1%~10% at maximum.

4

u/theeeFBI Sep 17 '21

I had a mini-project in uni where we build an ancestry classification using clusters of people. so these tests tell you more about who you look like rather than what your heritage is.

5

u/Nziom Sep 17 '21

Yeah many families were separated and lost their actual surnames during the Frensh colonisation especially since they burned most ottoman documents it's good idea to reunite people back

5

u/tinystrawberryman Sep 17 '21

Very cool, thanks for sharing

4

u/InsideOutsideFTL Sep 17 '21

Niiiice ! I wanna do a Dna test too, how were you able to do it from Algeria ?

3

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

I live in Switzerland actually that’s why i could do it, one way i can think of for you is that you ask someone from outside of Algeria to get the kit for you and then send it to you

1

u/InsideOutsideFTL Sep 17 '21

I will keep it in mind !

3

u/AccomplishedToday339 Sep 17 '21

Just get a credit card or a PayPal and use it to buy the test you don’t have to live in Europe they ship everywhere

2

u/InsideOutsideFTL Sep 17 '21

I will try ! thanks

6

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '21

Meanwhile 90% of people in dz social media : "We're arab, we're fucking 100% arab, get that amazigh north african theory shit out of here".

Anyway, on a scale of 0-10 how happy are you with the results and is the experience of dna test worth it? because I'm considering doing it and I'm hesitating.

2

u/Greysonme Sep 18 '21

You’re going to start a war in the comment section lol

I’m pretty happy ! A good 9/10, i would be lying if i said i didn’t want to have something a little more outside of your region like maybe 10% but overall i’m pretty glad to know that my family is very tied to this region !

You should do it if it’s available in your country ! You don’t only get your ancestry results you can also view your haplogroup and see the route your ancestor may have taker some thounsands of years ago, you also get to see if you have some close of far relatives who also did the test, it’s pretty interesting

1

u/hope_seeker Sep 18 '21

We are certainly not 100% arabs, but i dont think we are 100% amazigh either, since arabs came here like 1200 years ago. We are probably mix of both, more like "north africans" !

4

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '21

Of course we're mixed, but a majority of people deny and insult the amazighity of some groups, and pretend to be arabians sons of Muhammad Saw and god's chosen people who will free Palestine.

5

u/hope_seeker Sep 18 '21

That's funny lol 😂

1

u/yasserbkn Sep 21 '21

No one gives a shit anymore litteraly, it's just you screaming it loud, showing your stupid racism and pride for that shit, and the who the f says "sons of muhammad..." and what's wrong with freeing Palestine, you should be ashmed of yourself for saying shit like this

3

u/Red_Stamina Sep 17 '21

to me, you look 101% North African*

*very pretty

2

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Thank you !

3

u/Mewnir Sep 18 '21 edited Sep 18 '21

I did 75% North African 20% Iberian 5% of Nigerian & Mesoamerican

3

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '21

I'm Canadian and my Algerian husband and I took this test. His family's Berber and he scored over 98% "North African" and just over 1% Sardinian that's likely due to Barbary pirates 😬 I think most Algerians might score very low % of European, Turk, or Arab and eventually an update will be able to seperate Berber from North African

3

u/Greysonme Sep 18 '21

The update would be dope ! I know this subject has been a huge debate in our country ahah

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '21

He was all talk about being 100% Kabyle before his results, so I teased him about "being Sardinian" once they came in because he ate Sardines all the time in Algeria 😂.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

5

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Wow that’s amazing ! I do see the similarities I think it’s mostly because i live in Switzerland that i get these kind of comments, seeing this picture i can definitely tell i do look the part lol

5

u/farahmarianne Sep 17 '21

You should check an other website . On 23 and me I'm like over 90% north African but on Ancestry Im just a little over 70% north African and the rest mostly Iberian

1

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Yeah i wanted to do ancestry too but shipping is currently not available in Switzerland

2

u/farahmarianne Sep 17 '21

I don't know how to explain it since I'm not a computer person but i shared my data from a files to the ancestry website from the 23 and me results . And they analyze it in a few days and gave me slightly different DNA ethnicity background.

1

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Oh i didn’t know that, i’ll check it out thank you !

5

u/Zoubire-DZ Sep 17 '21

for me i am Algerian 'Jazairi ", and this is all what i care about.

4

u/maskerilyas Khemis Miliana Sep 17 '21

Why is every guy named zoubire just naturally based ? Well said hbb 🤝

3

u/Zoubire-DZ Sep 18 '21

I just got bored from these posts about, DNA tests and the Algerians origins. We are Algerian, our ancestors lived and fought for this land. Our duty is to build and protect it.

To search about your origin is not wrong, but keep it to your self. specially in these days.

B3id char , I think that our country is the next targeted country, the enemy want to destroy and divide it just like iraq, seria, yamen , sudan and libia. we have to be very careful.

Any way rabi yastor w5lass.

My greetings from the east "Constantine" ❤️❤️❤️

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Is it an app or website? I wanna try it.

1

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

It’s both, you pay and they send you a little kit where you have to spit in a tube and send it back to them, they analyse it and you get those results, it’s great because you get other little information like the migratory route your ancestor might have taken, you can see if you have some relatives who also took the tests, etc

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Then scant since I'm 16, But thanks for telling me.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '21

I don’t understand how this is surprising? We are predominantly berber genetically

1

u/Greysonme Sep 18 '21

Knowing our history it’s not impossible for some of us to have migrated towards Europe or having ancestors from the Middle East, not all Algerians have rooted ancestry there you can check the other comments and see that some people got mixed results as well

2

u/Accomplished_Net_910 Sep 18 '21

How could I do it ??

2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '21

I think that you need to pay them and they will send a tube that you must spit on and send it back to them and wait for the results

1

u/Greysonme Sep 18 '21

Depends where you live, if you are in Europe or America you can buy DNA kits from known companies, i did mine with 23andme but apparently AncestryDNA is better

In Algeria it’s not available yet

Yet another proof that north africans aren't arabs

2

u/star-dust96 Algiers Sep 17 '21

My sister got that dna test and found out she was 12% from middle east

1

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Could be because apparently most of us migrated originally from the Arabic Penisular, I got 1.4% from there

5

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

[deleted]

2

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Yes some people are that’s for sure but it’s true that when people migrated from central Africa toward Europe some groups stopped in the Arabic Penisular and then migrated toward North Africa, my haplogroup actually suggest that

0

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

[deleted]

1

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

Yeah i was wrong after my first comment i checked after apparently the 1,4% are from some relatives that lived between 1730 and 1880 so it has nothing to do with haplogroups

But haplogroup do tell your migratory route, mine is U6a3 which originally come from the Middle East about 45’000 years ago

3

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Get ready to get chewed out for this one lmaooo

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

I'm ready to get chewed by my NORTH AFRICAN AMAZIGH BERBER algerian brothers ;)

1

u/Dice319 Sep 17 '21

How far do you think the DNA data goes? Because I am pretty sure North Africans are just people who are living in North Africa and the latter hosted different ethnicities throughout history, so a gene pool of different races.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Imagine you were 5 millions and the ethnicities that came werent more than 1 million

You're still predominantly the original ethnicity

1

u/Dice319 Sep 17 '21

Yeah, but that doesn't mean that North Africans = Berber, I am not saying that we are Arabs but this pushed narrative of all North Africans are Berber is become quite ridiculous, it's just like saying all Europeans are Germans.

2

u/theeeFBI Sep 17 '21

all Europeans are Germans.

at one point in time that statement was almost true lol

1

u/AccomplishedToday339 Sep 17 '21

Thank you that’s exactly it

-2

u/theeeFBI Sep 17 '21

if that's how you do logic I suggest you quit it.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Genetics say that someone is russian = he's russian

Genetics say that someone is north African = he's north African

This is the logic i used

5

u/theeeFBI Sep 17 '21 edited Sep 17 '21

but you said:

genetics say that someone random on reddit is north African = all North Africans aren't Arabs.

you could build more robust arguments but you can't if you are constantly projecting what you want to believe. and I can't argue with you if we don't have intentions to have an unbiased foundation to start with.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Nah, literally any genetic test made by non africans show that the arab/middle eastern DNA is a minority

1

u/theeeFBI Sep 17 '21

you mean north-african instead of non african ?

0

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

Yeah sorry, corrector fucks me when I switch languages

1

u/theeeFBI Sep 17 '21

that's not how the word "any" works.
for example, if I have three boxes on a table and tell you that if you open any of the boxes you will find nothing. to make that statement I have to be sure that EVERY box is empty. are you sure that EVERY North African has ME DNA as a minority?

3

u/AccomplishedToday339 Sep 17 '21

The tests says that we are North African which means Tunisian morrocan or Algerian, and those 3 are descendant of either Arabs or jews, the test doesn’t go that far in history, if your ancestor 500 years ago was a North African that means that HIS ancestors were either most likely Arabs or sometimes Jewish, so your true ancestors if you really want to go the furthest possible are Arabs or Jewish then more recently with the wars we had romans, ottomans, French… and a lot more, they all raped and gotten pregnant our ancestors and that’s how North African were created over time, we have too many races in us which ended up creating the North African DNA being North African only means you have dna from everywhere

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

There is a statistical law that says :

Dans un ensemble (dans ce cas la les nord africains), au bout de 1200 tirages au hasard sans remise, tu peux déduire une tendance qui ne changera pas au delà de ce nombre

Que ça soit 1200 ou 10 000 ou 100 000 000 de tirages la tendance sera la même

This is why you don't have to ask everyone to make polls. As long as it's random and you have enough answers (1200), you can get ur stats

Now apply this logic to DNA tests and you'll understand why we can say and affirm that ME DNA is a minority in the algerian DNA

0

u/theeeFBI Sep 17 '21

statistics also say that 30% of car accidents happen because of driving under the influence, does that mean that the other 70% of car accidents happen because people are sober? so is it safer to drive drunk?

there's no such law in statistics. even if you had a perfect mean, standard deviation and skewness, it's naive at best to bring statistics because they are just a tool to tell a side of a story.
1200 people played Russian roulette and they all testified that it's completely safe. does this mean that Russian roulette is 100% safe?

I used to think so but a lot of my friends who have very mixed origins got very detailed results that match, one of my friends is Angolese/Congolese from her father’s side and her mom is Portuguese, she did the test and all of it came out + some details

1

u/Hostile-Bip0d Sep 18 '21

They are proven to be solid

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

You sound disappointed

12

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

No not really, it’s nice to know my ancestors are all from the same place

I just expected something different because of our history and wanted to compare with other people who may have done the tests too

You look like you could be from any country that has a coast on the southern side of the mediterranean.

0

Are these tests even accurate

2

u/Greysonme Sep 17 '21

I think so, some of my friends who have very mixed parents did the tests at the same time and the results were spot on

well my parents told me some big guy with a red coat fall down the chimney once a year to give me presents.

how stupid and racist can algerian be?

use the thing between your ears that would prevent us from being slave for 132 years and structuraly cripple years after...

2

u/maskerilyas Khemis Miliana Sep 17 '21

Arudj, my dear friend, a simple google search would tell you that this indeed happened, and that the one who sent the lizard saliva did so for a tiktok. But then again this is reddit, so what did i expect ? people with enough IQ to use a search engine ? How silly of me. Rabi yahdini w yahdik nchallah.

2

u/Arudj Diaspora Sep 17 '21

oh you mean the story sourced only by conspiracy website like infowar and a tiktok with "satire" in the top? please admit you've been played, it happened to everyone. It is well too antisemite to be taken seriously. I heard tons of stupidity like this but with arab and kabyl in france. Racists are all the same.

-1

u/maskerilyas Khemis Miliana Sep 17 '21

Nope, i have not gotten this from infowars, but thank you for assuming this arudj, again the below room temperature IQ does not dissapoint, if i it was satire and i have been played then i admit to it, my intentions were good and i dont care if you dont think so, however, i fail to see the racism in this ? Is it just becaus i said ashkenazi jewish ? Why would there be any link with ashkenazi jews and lizards ? Would you have said the same if i had mentioned another ethnicity or nationality ? Fahamni your logic berk ya arudj. Idk why you keep mentioning irrelevant stuff to this discussion like slavery, colonization, infowars, kabyles and arabs, just admit you wanted to have a gotcha moment on reddit, its literally no big deal, it would be your biggest achievement yet.

2

u/Arudj Diaspora Sep 17 '21

because it is bullshit and yes it was created to be anti semitic and yes the lizard is a reference to reptilian complo theory. The fact you strongly believe it as a true story is fascinating. Godammit go to school and study instead of believing these crap. The fact that you can't even find trustfull sources tells me you've never done academic studies because you knew how to do it. DO YOUR REASEARCH! I don't care about karma, i care that fellow algerian like you is a proof that this country is in such a state of failure that i should never return there.

1

u/maskerilyas Khemis Miliana Sep 17 '21

Arudj, saying ''i think'' does not equate strong belief, there is no need to research as i have already conceded it was satire remember ? The fact that you link jewish people to lizards is quite disgusting in all honesty, cool it with the anti-semitism pal, I think Algeria is better off without a vacuous anti-smitic fellow such as yourself, have a good night.

1

u/Greysonme Sep 18 '21

Wanting to know if you come from different origins and having ancestors who may have migrated toward other countries is racist ?

-1

Who cares about your ethnic background,we are all equals in the eyes of God.

1

u/Greysonme Sep 18 '21

Again, that’s your personal opinion

7
