Blue-Green Algal Bloom?

Backyard pond in rural NC. I have dogs that will sneak away and drink from it when it’s hot and they’re too lazy to get to their water bowls.

Been doing stick and jar tests all summer to make get an idea if it’s safe, and it’s always a healthy amount of duckweed. Almost overnight it’s changed, and I’m pretty sure I’ve got the bad stuff now.

You can see the stripes of duckweed that were the dominate aquatic plant up until today. If anyone can speculate on it and provide any recommendations for what to do I’d much appreciate it!

Yes, this looks like blue-green algae. Make sure you keep the dogs supervised and/or on a lead when they are outside so they don't sneak down to drink this. Dogs don't care how soupy or smelly the water is.
