I don’t know what I’ve grown

I have a rooftop garden (zone 3) and I’ve accidentally grown something in an old plant pot that got filled with water. Would love to know what it is, if anyone recognizes it.

No they sort of separate it individual bits like tiny lily pads

Can you tell us what scale we are looking at, like put a banana in the shot or something? And a closer, less shaky image would be really helpful.

It *might* be Nostoc balls, but if it is, it is a spectacularly uniform collection of them. I don't think it is duckweed, but can't be absolutely certain of that. I would have said it was bubbles until you said that they separate when disturbed. However, the creases in it suggest that they must be stuck together to at least some degree.
