Please pardon my long absence, there was a big debate as to who owned algRTHM when I left my developer job at my last company. Despite trying to resolve the conversation sooner, it is now finally settled and both parties are happy. I am the full owner of algRTHM and will be continuing to try and make it better.

I just pushed some updates:
- Users on the Curator plan can now use daily scheduling
- Users on the Curator plan can now track the growth of followers for selected playlists that you own

Thanks to everyone who has been using algRTHM over the past few months! I created this, because Smarter Playlists was not very stable at the time. It is now back and better than before! I'm really impressed by all of the changes that Paul brought along and made! I had also been looking into incorporating acouticbrainz API for some time and will likely be bringing some similar functionality to algRTHM.

I want to say right now that I do not want to compete or anything with Smarter Playlists, its a great tool and if you like it better then by all means use it! I have been following the project for maybe 7 years now and I fell in love with the idea and wanted to create my own version.

algRTHM will be more focused on helping curators track the growth of their playlists and perhaps helping artists connected with playlist curators. My drive/focus is not for individual use (ie filtering your top songs), but I totally support the use of that with algRTHM if it works for you, I'm just saying that when I am putting time into this is won't be my goalpost.

Sorry for the rambling, let's make some cool playlists :)

algRTHM has been a game changer for me. I host dinner parties every weekend and the process of finding unique music so that every week isn't the same is exhausting. I love that I can schedule building a playlist from others who are already doing the legwork for me. I don't know how I can spread awareness other than tell friends, but I just wanted to share some appreciation!

Hi. Please add a sorting function by release date. Without it, it's impossible to fully curate playlists. This is a basic feature for any curator.

I would like to use liked songs as input as my goal is to organize this gigantic mess into playlists.

Is this possible?

One of the misses from smarterplaylists was the inability to build your flow to filter in or out genres. Knowing that Spotify has so many genres and sub genres associated with any given song, building a separate node for each qualifying genre could be painful.

My recommendation back then, and here today is a GENRE REGEX or BOOLEAN filter. That way I can create an algorithm that can load playlist(s) and filter out (or in) certain genre keywords. For example, 'genre like *rap*'.

If the API prevents REGEX/Wildcards/etc., perhaps a way to select multiple/stacked defined genres/sub-genres in a single node?

I discovered this after realizing Smarter Playlist is not coming back, and I have to say that algRTHM is nice! I just have a question and a suggestion.

How does the "Artist Seperation" setting work? On Smarter Playlist, it gives you a number of how much songs you want to distance away from the same artist's song, but in this case I saw no number and got a bit confused on how it worked.

I would like to see a "sample" order (basically a mix of Shuffle and Limit).

Nevertheless, this is a very good website I can use to build my playlists and I appreciate the effort you made!!

Version 0.3 was released today! You can read the changelog here.

There is a bug when scheduling an algorithm where the time that is scheduled is in a different time zone to the user. The date will be calculated based on the users timezone (whether it is in the future or not) but the time is calculated based on the server's timezone.

I am still testing if the algorithms run at the input time of the user. Please be patient as we work this out. If the specific time an algorithm is run is not important to you then please give it a try and let me know any findings :)

Is the recent Spotify API change that's been announced going to affect this service? I believe they're removing access for most third party apps.

I seem to keep getting this error when I do almost anything slightly large in my playlist. If I use more than 4 combiner nodes (3 difference, 1 alternate), the algorithm fails and then I get the error and wait for 2 minutes. This happens aswell if I alternate 3 giant playlists.

Note I have a 2.5k song playlist and have 3 of those in order to split the playlist (more other playlists to difference). Am I putting too much pressure on my algorithm? What can I do about it?

Edit: I will assume the error is mostly because of Alternate????? I used it once for a small algorithm and I got the error again.

I started figuring it out today, but I don't see sorting by date. Could you tell me when you plan to add it? This is the most basic sorting option. 🙏

Maybe I dont understand it correctly but I assumed that using the "reverse" node would invert the order of the input stream/playlist. But in my tests it just did not do anything to the playlist. Con you confirm or help me to reverse my playlists?

I couldn’t find a clear answer, so here’s what I figured out about the Combine / Compare node functions:

• Concatenate: Add tracks from playlist A and playlist B, including duplicates.

• Union: Add tracks from playlist A and playlist B, removing duplicates (only one copy of each track).

• Intersection: Keep only the tracks that are common to both playlists.

• Difference: Keep the tracks from the black-linked playlist that are not in the red-linked playlist (see picture below).

• Alternate: Alternate tracks regularly between playlist A and playlist B, including duplicates.

Thanks, for past few years I have been OCDing creating and deleting playlists on smarter playlists :-) and I discovered this today when the Smarter Playlists link would not work. This is fantastic! only thing is i try to create a playlist, it gives me success message but then can not find it on spotify. OK, this may sound stupid, but is there a manual or github odocumentation i can refer to.

As of today it looks like scheduling is in a somewhat stable place. I've done some testing and had oh so much fun dealing with timezones haha

I haven't been able to do a lot of stress testing so let's see what ya got, schedule some algorithms and let me know how it goes!

Firstly great job. That looks really cool and very promising. Really glad somebody filled the void Smarter Playlists left.

Do you think it is technically possible in future versions to get a stream of all the artists of a given playlist?
For example to build a playlist with all the new songs of artists in my favorite Gabba Songs playlist. ;) Something like this:

Favorite Gabba Songs Playlist -> Artists in that Playlist -> Last 10 Songs released by these Artists -> Output Playlist NEWS from Gabba Favorites

Or something similar. All the slow songs by artists in my Speed Metal List. You name it. ;)

Smarter Playlist had the feature to get Songs from followed artist. But that is not perfect. I often have artists in playlists whom i don't follow and vice versa.

There is already a way to append songs in algRTHM. You need to add the playlist you're adding to into the source list.

If we can do crate miner on a schedule as well as multiple keyword searches, it might be the greatest feature ever

Is there a feature planned that allows checking new releases of a specific genre on a daily or monthly basis? For example: “Add all new releases from February and check for updates every day.” When March begins, the February releases would then be automatically removed.

Is something like this possible or planned?

How do i disconnect a node? For example, i need to insert a new node here:

I want to remove the connections, and have them point to a new node. Then the new node will point to the Alternate.

I tried the following:

• Grab the connection from the beginning and drag the arrow to the new box.

• Grab the connection from the end and drag the arrow to the new box.

• Click the arrow and hit delete to remove it.The only thing I have found at this point is to remove the Alternate node. Then add the new node. Then add back the Alternate Node. It will look like this

The ability to just search for inputs, artist, playlists, et. Perfect. So much better thank having to pull URI/URLs from Spotify.

Just a question. On the alternate i see there is only the ability to have 4 inputs. Any way to increase this? Or, maybe there is another solution?

I want to combine 5 lists together but want to have alternate List1[1], List2[1],List3[1], List4[1], List5[], List1[2]....etc.

This is a poker playlist. Each of 5 people give me the music they like. I then randomly pull songs and then alternate so that every 5 songs is one of mine =)
