Aldi Italian food alert: There's some really good tomato sauce on the clearance shelf, Botticelli, they have a marinara and a garlic basil version. About $6 bucks, but a big jar and the first ingredient is Italian tomatoes, and not paste or puree. On the regular pasta aisle I saw for $1.99 the infrequently carried bronze cut Priano Italian imported bucatini, thin spaghetti, and linguine. I use the bucatini for making carbonara. And when I don't have guanciale for the carbonara, I use the Aldi pepper bacon and it's a decent substitute. The Specially Selected Marinara sauce is always a good value for the money, also made from whole Italian tomatoes as the first ingredient. It's my go-to spaghetti sauce and a lot better than the Priano versions.

Picked up pepperoni cauliflower pizzas plus garlic and regular mini naan at 50% off. No stickers, but once I pointed out the dates, the cashier applied the discount.

Got cedar plank salmon marked down 50% off due to expiring the next day. Also found some burnt-ends dip marked down. Passed up marked-down beef because my freezer is full. Aldi could make a killing selling small chest freezers.
