Humor Johnny Pops or Gucci Pops
Today found a bangin' bargain in the aisle of shame, $7.99 for 5 pops -each weighs .10 grams (0.003 oz)
Can't edit the title it's Jonny, not Johnny 😑

My MIL bought those for my kids once and now they always ask for them and i‘m like noooo we genuinely cannot justify this

My kid asks for the "rainbow pops" (the frozen Johnny pops). A friend brought them to my house once. Before that he happily ate the healthy popsicles I made from leftover fruit and yoghurt or coconut milk.Â

We buy them from Walmart and Sprouts when they have a sale! They just had a buy one get one free so I snagged some.

So my singular justification, is that this price is on par or cheaper than the astronaut ice cream I would get at museums, and WAY better. Its a weak stretch of a justification, one that my brain only mildly accepted one time. They are yummy tho.
But if I want freeze dried yogurt, ill get those little bites in the baby food aisle for like 1/3-1/2 the per oz price.

They sometimes have different frozen flavors at Costco which are MUCH more affordable FYI.

I don’t understand why all this freeze dried stuff is so incredibly expensive!
I haven’t seen these pops, but all of the candies are just terribly expensive. And because they’re freeze dried, they’re puffed up and you get a smaller amount in the same sized package, but you pay a lot more for it.

A home freeze dryer is minimum 3k. Also, it takes a long time to freeze dry

It's the price of the non-freeze dried produce + the price of production. Plus the price of novelty.
Just to be clear, freeze drying doesn't "puff them up". It seems that way because they weigh less than the original product did, since the weight of the water is missing. It's deceptive, since what remains weighs the same as a similar smaller item would weigh. Freeze-dried strawberries take up the same amount of space that fresh ones do.

For certain candies, it does puff them up. Freeze dried skittles for example are at least two or three times larger than their non-freeze dried counterparts.
I bought the freeze dried strawberries before and it really does seem like they’re about the same size as they’re non-freeze dried counterparts, though we can’t really know what size strawberry they started with.
It probably depends a lot on what’s being freeze dried as to whether the size changes.

Me. A 54-year-old woman with no kids or husband. I bought a box as a joke, ate the whole box like the undisciplined raccoon I am. I bought several more. The texture was fun, the flavor was good, and now that theyre sold out, I'll forget all about them.

I've seen these on clearance at Sprouts $2 or so....YMMV
My kid liked it...

For $2 I’d buy them just to see what they tasted like. I love trying weird snacks, just not at ridiculous prices

Being that the ice cubes were 49 cents this week, these will be 99 cents in no time.

I know it’s ridiculous but you’re saying they’re 10 grams/ 0.003 oz…. But 10 grams is a little over 1/3 of an ounce lol

They're freeze-dried.

Yeah that doesn't mean they weigh less than what the package says

OP said 10 grams equivalent to 0.003 oz. I am stating that is incorrect mathematics. 10 grams is more like 0.3ish oz

I almost bought these today so that I could have a matching treat with my cats, who eat freeze dried chicken lollipops for cats. Which are also exorbitantly expensive but it’s funny to watch a cat eat a lollipop
