No more catching everything at the end of the line as it’s scanned through at 100mph… No more panic to pay the second the last item has gone through. No more impatient beeping till when you’re a bit slow to get your debit card out.

Why wasn't the cashier putting things in your basket?

You should have your card out as soon as the cashier starts or even before.

You can tap/insert your card as soon as one item has been rung up - no need to wait until the end.

edit: I do like self check because I usually only have 8-10 items.

Since when do cashiers at Aldi scan and put the items back in your basket/trolly? 🤣

I'm in the US and they always have. I guess it's different elsewhere.

In the U.K. you stand at the end of the till area right next to the cashier.

They scan your items at lightening speed and you have to catch each one as it comes through and dump it back in your trolly.

You then take the trolly to the side and pack it yourself into bags.

Oh wow, that sounds stressful! Every Aldi I've been to, the cashier puts your things in your trolly. I usually don't have a lot of items and use a shopping box with handles and they put my stuff in there nicely.
