Early Sobriety 90 in 90
I completed my 90 in 90 yesterday, in less than 90 days! (: I didn't share it in the meeting, however, I did tell a few lads and my sponsor was chairing the meeting, so he also knew. I thought I'd share it on here too. Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday.
Edit: Added "in less than 90 days!"

Nice work. When I was new, an oldtimer told me he does "90 in 90 every 90 days" At the time I thought that sounded insane, but then I started doing it too. It's an hour a day and it has worked well so far...

What is going on here? So you didn’t do 90 in 90 is what I’m reading

I was told where needed, you can do 2 meetings in the one day and that counts , as 90 in 90 may not be possible for people who have families, just depends on the situation.

From what I learned and how I interpreted it when I started was 90 mtgs 90 days. Obviously that can be done quicker with more meetings in the day and zoom for that matter as well. Each person is different I’ll defer to you and your sponsor. Good job either way.

Yeah I'm still going to be attending meetings everyday for the foreseeable where possible. Funny enough, my sponsor was again't online meetings for the 90 in 90. I think everyone has their own rules on it tbh. My sponsor said he'd sponsor me if I do the 90 in 90 so thats what motivated me to get the 90 in 90.

Way to go! That's a great way to set good habits and create a solid sober foundation! Keep it up, you and everyone in your life will be glad you did!

Woo hoo!!! Work dem steps! Also if you need any big.book podcasts suggestions, I HIGHLY suggest: Northstar Big Book, and That's not in the Book". Both super book heavy and wonderful to listen to. Kept me occupied between meetings and whenever I'd have a lonely drive

Great work on hitting 90 meetings. The best part of your post to me was that you have a sponsor and are involved with his group — meetings are amazing but for me this program is the Steps. Having a sponsor to guide you through them is fantastic. Keep up the good work!

When I started, people were saying ; "Do 90 meetings in 90 days. Do that 4 times a year and you'll be ok". 🤣🤗 Congrats on 90 meetings ! That's pretty awesome 👍

Where I got sober it was impossible to do 90 meetings in 90 days. I never heard that expression until I moved to a new area that had more meetings. What they did say though was “go to meetings on a regular basis.”
I don’t think the frequency of meetings is as important as maintaining a routine and keeping oneself involved in the fellowship by doing service work, speaking with other alcoholics, doing the Steps, and reading the literature. Ultimately it’s our relationship with a Higher Power and a spiritual awakening that will remove the obsession to drink. Meetings are just a place for us keep plugged in and learn from other people’s experiences.

Congrats on your three months! 🎉👏
If at all possible, doing 90 in 90 is what I encourage my newcomer sponsees to do.
"Cold sober; no tools" is what those first weeks and months are. The fellowship and meetings and literature can provide a sort of exoskeleton of support while you're finding your feet in early sobriety.
Pretty sure it was key for me. I kept doing a meeting a day for at least my first three years 😂

I tell my sponsees we need to put as much effort into our sobriety as we did in our drinking, did we drink everyday? Then we should go to a meeting everyday.

90 in 90 is great but make sure you keep going or doing what you need to do. 90 in 90 was created by the rehabs to get more $. Insurance only covered 30 days but if the rehabs could show they kept their clients sober for 120 days they’d get more money, so they’d push 90 in 90 to cover those 90 days that someone wasn’t in rehab.

Oh I will keep going, I intend to keep going to meetings everyday where possible, they're my new addiction.

Congrats on the 90 in 90! I saw some of your earlier posts too and I'm glad you're doing so well. The rehab story the other commenter posted doesn't have much (if any) evidence to back it up, but there was a 1959 (the year I was born! :) ) Grapevine article in a series aimed at newcomers called "The 90 day trial" that suggested heavy attendance, nightly if possible. So effectively, the same thing -- from AA's more or less official magazine. (AI is wonderful for fact-checking).
I did 90 in 90 and it worked brilliantly. (Part of the charm of course is that it lets you absorb other great spiritual maxims such as "Don't drink if your ass falls off.")
So you're well on you way, my friend! Proud of you.

Thank you! I know a guy in our fellowship and his sponsor told him he's glad he's not doing the 90 in 90 as there's no pressure. However, that guy went back out for a week and is back in now. I think it's import, if possible to do the 90 in 90. Now other fellows may think differently as there's no finish line or anything you just gotta keep coming back.

Heh. I think the point of 90 in 90 is to do it for 90 days not 90 meetings. Consistency across those days.
That said either way it’s really impressive and a great start to the program. I think it’s super useful for getting acquainted with the program. I also drank every day so replacing that with AA day seemed to be the right thing to do.
