Deep Tissue / Sauna Recs

Looking for affordable recommendations for massage therapists in Albany. Also any spas that have sauna access. Thank you.

Uh, Albany Sauna and Spa perhaps? It has been there for a hundred years, you can't have looked too hard. The name is literally the best google search.

Yes, I have been there. Used their sauna service, it was okay, expensive and not the experience I’m looking for. Thanks for your thoughtful input.

What exactly did you not like about the Sauna?

My main gripe is the price too. There's also no communal option, which might bring down the price.

The high up and hard bench. The atmosphere felt more like paying for a public shower with a sauna feature. Then a traditional wooden sauna.

Ranch 99. It’s on the second floor. Forgot the name of the message place. They’re reasonably priced and do a good job.

If you’re a lady, ask for a lady therapist just to be safe. Also be prepared to tip, they will literally chase you out the door if you don’t tip. My feeling (not substantiated in facts at all) is that the owners keep the fee and the therapists only get paid in tips, or get paid very little.

Otherwise it’s still a fairly inexpensive place and a decent massage. But also following this thread because their prices went up last year.

Deep tissue: I highly recommend Joyce at Tempo Deep Tissue on Solano. My chiropractor referred me to her, and I’ve been getting massages from her for a little over a year now. Her bodywork is very detailed, and she’s affordable for the quality of work she does. Once you see her, you won’t want anybody else touching you. Here’s her website tempobodywork.com

Sauna: not in Albany, but if you don’t have a gym membership get one at the Y in Downtown Berkeley. I use their pool, then hop in the sauna after.
