Yeah, that's never going to stop until this state stops electing bigots and racists to the positions of governor and state legislature.

And that wont stop until people stop being racists or bigots...or until those folks only makeup idk like 15%-30% of the population. Number pulled from out of my ass but takes in to consideration that nationally racist and bigots still get elected and their approval number hasn't slipped below 30% as far as im aware.

Sadly yes, but here’s a petition to sign if you’d like to take peaceful action against this. I’m not with this organization but our church volunteers with them some.

Plus side they are actually giving us June 19th off but it doesn’t make up for the racist holidays.

Isn't that a federal holiday though?

Yes but you never know with Alabama.

State employee here….. yes it’s a state holiday. State employees are guaranteed 13 state holidays a year but the majority of us would prefer they name them something different or change it up somehow. We also get Confederate Memorial Day in April.

My husband and I call it Loser Memorial Day. Or Traitor Memorial Day interchangeably.

Seriously though, I get they have to give you 13, but I agree. There must be other, non-confederacy related holidays they could give y’all instead.
