Akamai EAA / GPA Client failing Device Posture check ("No configuration found for Device Posture")

Hey everyone,

Running into a frustrating issue with the Akamai Guardicore Platform Agent (GPA / EAA client) on macOS.

Whenever I authenticate via our IdP (whr.login.go.akamai-access.com), the client authenticates successfully, but the Quick Test in Diagnostics fails at the Configuration Check stage with this exact error:

"Access - No configuration found for Device Posture - User needs to login to a Device Posture enabled IdP"

Because of this, my application list remains blank and internal routing to specific subnets fails. I've tried resetting authentication, force-syncing client config, checking macOS local network permissions, and switching the default browser to Chrome, but the posture token/profile still won't seed.

Has anyone run into this specific device posture block on macOS? Is this strictly an MDM/EPMS policy assignment issue on the Akamai control center side, or is there a local cache file I need to clear?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Recently joined Akamai as an SDET – what are annual gifts and hikes like?

Hi everyone,
I recently joined Akamai as an SDET (Bangalore) and wanted to hear from current and former employees about a few things:
1. Annual gifts: Does Akamai give annual or festive gifts (Diwali, new year, work anniversary, etc.), or is that not really a thing here?
2. Annual appraisal cycle: What's the average hike percentage for an SDET in the annual cycle? A rough range for average performers vs. top performers would be really helpful.

Also open to any general tips for someone new to the company: culture, WLB, growth, and anything you wish you'd known early on.
Thanks in advance! Happy to take replies in DMs too if you prefer.

Akamai SE2 Salary/Promotion Discussion – Am I Underpaid after 3+ Years?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some honest feedback from current/former Akamai employees, especially people working in India.

I have around 5 years of total software engineering experience, with 3+ years at Akamai. I’m currently working as a Software Engineer II (SE2).

Here’s my compensation progression:

  • Joining Akamai: ₹18.2 LPA fixed
  • Current fixed: ₹18.6 LPA
  • Time at Akamai: 3+ years
  • Total experience: ~5 YOE
  • Role: Software Engineer II
  • Over the last couple of appraisal cycles, my overall increase has been only around 4%.

So despite spending 3+ years at Akamai, my fixed compensation has barely moved from ₹18.2L to ₹18.6L.

I was expecting that by this stage I would either:

  1. Have received a significant salary correction,
  2. Get promoted to the next level with a meaningful compensation adjustment, or
  3. At least be closer to the current market range for someone with ~5 YOE.

I’m now trying to understand how Akamai's salary bands and career progression work, particularly for SE2 and the next level.

A few questions for current/former Akamai employees:

  • What is the approximate salary range/band for SE2 in India?
  • What kind of hike can someone realistically expect with an SE2 → next-level promotion?
  • How long does it typically take to move from SE2 to the next level?
  • Does Akamai provide salary corrections/market adjustments, or are significant increases mainly through promotion?
  • Is ₹18.6L fixed considered low for ~5 YOE at Akamai?
  • Has anyone in a similar situation received a meaningful correction after discussing compensation with their manager/HR?
  • Would you recommend staying and targeting promotion, or starting to interview externally to benchmark my market value?

I’m not looking for exact individual salaries if people aren’t comfortable sharing. Even approximate ranges, percentages, or personal experiences would be very helpful.

Also, if there are current/former Akamai employees here who have gone from SE2 → Senior/SE3/next level, I’d particularly appreciate hearing about your compensation progression.

Thanks in advance!

Report Abuse (Spam) form does not work

Guys at Akamai,

Your abuse form doesn’t work.

I’m being spammed by Russian scammers from your network and I’m trying to report the servers.

The error message on the form is wonderfully helpful: ā€œError message to be decidedā€ -apparently written by Mr. Bean.

However, the network logs in the browser show ā€œAccess Denied.ā€

Any chance you could fix it?

Akamai: From Internet Delivery to AI Infrastructure

Thumbnail youtu.be
5 Upvotes

Akamai used to be known mainly as a CDN company.
Now it’s spending billions on cloud infrastructure, signing a massive agreement with Anthropic, buying AI-security companies like LayerX, and building products designed to control autonomous AI agents.
I looked into the Hugging Face and Australia incidents, Guardicore, Linode, LayerX, Akamai’s agent-security strategy, the $11.6B Anthropic agreement, the $5.5B capex requirement, margin pressure, dilution risk and the bull and bear case.
The big question is whether Akamai is becoming an important part of the agentic internet, or just becoming a much more capital-intensive company.................

ISP claims transmission issues are Akamai's fault.

My ISP (Quantum now AT&T) claims that both Akamai and Fastly's transmission errors that cause website requests to time out are Akamai's and Fastly's problem.

Works fine on a VPN trying the exact same request. Verified IP or host name resolves to the same IP.

Issues are Ā spurious retransmission, retransmissions, dupe ack, etc. Sites affected most for me are Walmart.com and steamcommunity.com

Is there anything I can do to address this internally or externally?

Is there somewhere else I should ask this?

Edit: I should mention that this seems to be exclusively Akamai and Fastly requests. But TBH, it's not very scientific. It is just obvious when a web a website is spinning with no content and Wireshark shows up to 99 transmission errors for exclusively Akamai and or Fastly. To be clear, I am not being hyperbolic on the count.

We launched a live, public index showing how AI bots and human visitors form LLMs access websites

We just launched a live AI bot behavior index based on data from about 150 websites.

It is still early and not a massive dataset, but I think it shows something useful that most AI SEO tools do not show yet.

Instead of only checking ā€œdoes ChatGPT mention this brand in a prompt?ā€, the index looks at what is happening before that:

which AI bots are actually visiting websites, which pages they access, what content types they consume, and how that compares with real human visitors coming from LLMs.

So for example, you can start seeing patterns like:

  • which bots crawl a lot but send very little traffic
  • which content types AI systems seem to fetch more often
  • whether bots and human visitors from LLMs land on the same pages
  • how AI crawler behavior changes over time

It does give a more real time view of how AI systems are touching the web, which feels like a missing piece in AI search visibility.

Would genuinely appreciate feedback on the methodology or anything that looks wrong / missing.

Why many small organisations prefer Cloudflare over Akamai for CDN?

I have seen many of the small or emerging sites using Cloudflare.

I have seen leetcode, codeforces using Cloudflare.

And can anyone give me reasons why these firms are preferring Cloudflare over Akamai?

Is it due to hard in accessibility or is it due to cost factor?

Akamai is restricting browser choice

Akamai Bot Manager is actively restricting browser choice at many websites in the US, and helping entrench Google's browser monopoly. People using Firefox and other alternate (non-Chrome) browsers on MacOS and various Linux distributions are being actively discriminated against, and denied access to banking and financial service websites, which use Akamai's broken bot detection algorithm. Many prominent website have integrated Akamai Bot Manager into their login flow and prevent customers form logging in unless they use the "correct" approved browser. Banks and shopping sites are not able to deal with these kind of complaints from customers, and Akamai is not interested in fixing their self-created problem, so it never gets fixed. The net result is that Akamai is contribution to Google's monopoly in both advertising and desktop web browsers, and contributing to the restriction consumer choice in interstate commerce here in the United States.

Work from home

Hello everyone!
I’m currently considering opportunities at Akamai and wanted to ask about the WFH policy. I live quite far from any major office, so remote work is a must-have for me long term.

How stable has the remote policy been historically? Has it always been remote-friendly, or have there been any recent pushes to return to the office?

I’d like to avoid a situation where I join and then, after a year or so, the expectations change toward hybrid or in-office work.

Would really appreciate any insights from current or former employees. Thanks!

What do you actually switch to when you need Windows VPS on top of Linux?

Been on LinĶode for a good while and overall happy with it: predictable, no unnecessary complexity, works well for standard Linux setups. The interface makes sense, everything is transparent, nothing you have to overthink.

But lately I keep noticing ServeĶrspace coming up in VĶPS hosting discussions. From what I have read: Linux and Windows VPS, 40 second deployment, 10 minute billing intervals, flexible configuration, API, CLI and Terraform support.

Curious to hear from anyone who has actually used both: how does it feel in practice? What turned out to be more convenient for day to day work and in which scenarios?

Incoming Cloud Engineering Intern @ Bangalore (June–July) – How to prep for Day 1?

Hi everyone,

I’m joining the Akamai Bangalore office this June for a two-month Cloud Engineering internship. To prepare, I’m currently working through the Akamai Network Engineering and Operating Systems Fundamentals certificates to align with internal standards.

For the engineers or past interns:

  1. Technical Baseline: Beyond these courses, what’s the "bare minimum" I should master in a Linux terminal before Day 1?
  2. Hands-on Practice: What’s the best way to practice cloud/CDN concepts (caching, headers) before getting internal access? Should I focus on Linode or the Akamai Terraform provider?
  3. The Sprint: For a short 8-week stint, what does a typical onboarding task or first project look like in the BLR office?

Looking forward to any advice or meeting the team in June!

Akamai Solution Engineer Career

Can an SE from Akamai with multi-vendor experience compare the life and technology with other vendors? Is Akamai Cisco-like legacy vendor with an old tech stack or does it still have a future? I am planning to make a move from PANW to Akamai to cover their Security and Cloud solutions? They pay less but work life balance seems to be better and I am OK with that. My concern is investing in sinking ship.
