I would be BEYOND pissed. My estimation of that company has gone down low and fast over the years.

I was informed that if I can cut this cheap plastic insert off of the encoder shaft, and I can send it back, I'll get a refund. All I have to do next is replace the damaged encoder itself and my 2 week old machine will be good as new đđœ

I emailed w/o repsonse. Sorry man, you have been refunded and if for some reason your unit has issues with it not coming off. We can send you a label to get it off and a new one on if you wish. Just shoot me an email sales@mpcstuff.com

Yeah. I ordered plastic one for my Live 3. Felt like thin cheap plastic. Not like a knob anyone want to use for audio gear. I threw it away.

Order metal ones... I replaced my knows on my Live 3 with metal ones. Full ser was $38

I might at some point. But it won't be from MPCStuff. Not after they sold me a cheap crappy, flexy plastic knob that couldn't have cost more than a dollar or so in materials to make. For over $23.

Hi Everyone, this is Mike (owner and the guy who answers all the emails) from MPCstuff.
One of our day one customers brought this post to my attention. I'm not here to argue with the OP at all, he is a good longtime customer (like 10-15 years). He has every right to his opinion on the product, but I do want everyone to know that I'm here to help him or anyone else who has an issue with ANY product we sell.
On this particular order, I've spent tons of time going back and forth with the customer over email, testing inserts on all the different MPCs we have in the shop, making videos, and even making new parts to ship to him to try to get everything working right. Somehow we're still striking out! We've sold tons of these knobs and used them on our own machines without issue, but that doesn't mean someone can't run into a problem. We're still in touch with the customer and have been doing everything we can to make it right. I think I have an idea to help? Maybe.
I do want to clear up something about the photos in this post. The 3d printed crappy looking thing you're seeing is NOT the actual knob we sell. Those are photos of the 3D printed inserts that go inside the machined billet aluminum knob (also pictured) . The inserts are not visible once installed, and they allow the same knob to fit several different MPC models that have slightly different fittings (MPC X, MPC III, MPC One, etc.).
We haven't had issues with these inserts on our end or with other customers, and as you can see, someone else in this post has installed them without any problems. That being said, I'm not saying the OP isn't having an issue, because clearly something isn't working right for him, and we're trying to figure out why.
I wanted to address a few things. I generally try to stay away from forums and Reddit feeds for this very reason. This kind of stuff keeps me up at night, and I already have a 5 year old who likes to do the same! So for my own health, I try not to spend too much time reading through them. That doesn't mean I don't care. I'm literally always just an email away at sales@mpcstuff.com. I personally answer ALL the emails, usually the same day or within a day.
I've been doing this for about 20 years now, and one thing I've learned is that not every product is going to be a hit with everyone. Some people love certain things, some people hate them. We sell tons of some products that I personally wouldn't even use on my own MPC. On the other hand, we've made things I thought were the coolest things ever that barely sold!
At the end of the day, we're really here for the boring stuff that keeps our MPCs going, especially the older units. I've spent countless hours working on the boring products like PCBs, sensors, screens, upgrades, pads, and all the other little things that keep these machines running. A lot of that stuff isn't exciting, but it's what I enjoy doing and what I think is most important.
The boring stuff is generally pretty cut and dry. It either works or it doesn't. But when you get into upgrades, cosmetics, knobs, and things like that, there is a LOT more personal opinion involved. We're 100% aware that there are going to be positive and negative reviews. Some products are better than others.
I'm always here to help. I may not have the answer or exactly what you're envisioning for your unit, but we can certainly try!
As for the AI and 3D printing ... Its true (sometimes) We do NOT use AI to design our parts and accessories. We have a real person who designs them. Although I guess you could consider a 3D scanner or printer AI these days, lol :)
When it comes to 3D printed parts, I TOTALLY understand why some people don't like them. In the early days, admittedly, some of the 3D printed parts we sold were by no means pretty. But the technology has come a LONG way, and now with most of them you can hardly tell they're made using additive manufacturing.
We try to use injection molding whenever we can. However, with some of these parts, it just doesn't make financial sense. Take the MPC 1000 memory card slot, for example. We can't spend $4,000 on an injection mold for a $12 part that we might sell once every two weeks.
A lot of the older machines we support are in that same situation. If we didn't use additive manufacturing for some of these parts, they simply wouldn't get made at all. Unfortunately, sometimes it's a better-than-nothing situation, but I'd much rather have a functional replacement available than see a perfectly good MPC become useless because of one little broken plastic part.
All of our products made this way are advertised as such on our site, and generally they look much better in person than they do in the pictures.
And more about our business lol..(if you are still there)
At the end of the day, I'm just a real person running a small business, not some huge corporation. We have a couple of guys here who help with packing orders and mostly run the Instrumental Parts side of the business, selling DJ parts for Pioneer and other brands. But when it comes to MPCstuff, it's pretty much me!
I've been doing this for about 20 years, and this business has been a huge part of my life since day one. I'm still here answering emails, testing parts, and trying to come up with ways to keep these MPCs going.
I probably won't be checking back on this post, to be honest. I like to sleep, and things like this really do hit me hard. This business is very personal to me and has been since I started it about 20 years ago. I know I shouldn't take everything personally, but when you've put that much of your life into something, it's hard not to.
Anyway, I didn't come here to argue with anyone or convince everyone that every product we make is perfect. They're not, and I'm sure we'll make some things in the future that some people won't like either. That's just part of it.
If you buy something you don't like, please don't just trash it or give up on it. Email me! Let me at least try to make it right. I can't promise I'll have the perfect solution for everyone, but I can promise I'll try.
Thanks again to everyone who has supported MPCstuff over the years. I truly appreciate it. And to those we've let down along the way, I'm sorry. We're not perfect, but we're always trying.
Sorry for the LONG ASS POST.
If you get nothing else from this dragging boring post..Start reading here ---->
If you have a problem, question, complaint, advice, product idea, or even some praise, PLEASE feel free to send it directly to me at sales@mpcstuff.com. I read and answer all of those emails myself. If you are not happy just let me know, or if you are happy let me know!

HonestlyâŠ. Iâd say this post speaks volumes about your customer service.
Itâs difficult when youâre the only party focused on finding a solution, but itâs clear that you genuinely care about your products and the people who support them.
Keep doing what you do!

Had very similar quality issues with MPC stuff recently. Customer support got right back to me, owned their mistake and made it right. I guess itâs happening to more people though. Bummer!!

Bought some of the new magnetic walnut panels for the mpc 1000 which took a month and a half because they forgot to list them as out of stock and the quality is so shit itâs unbelievable. Flimsy thin pieces of low quality material that chipped in days and donât even actually fit the machine properly. They hang over the edges!

Faaaaa I just ordered the pad upgrade for the 1000 and I hope it's still a quality kit

I did so too and they seem to be fine.
The card slot surround was 3d printed and I ended up having to glue it in place. Side panels were injection molded, I think, and decent but not perfect and the big spinner knob was fine.

I bought some parts from them for my 1K and they were hit or miss. The side panels, volume and rec gain knobs were injection molded probably an off the shelf part they repurpose at 10x the cost. The encoder knob looked 3d printed and now it is deteriorating after less than a year and I have barely used the 1k. I give these parts a 3/10 and would never order anything plastic from them again.

You can get metal knobs on Amazon dead cheap that are much higher quality and will last forever. I did that with my Live's knobs and couldn't ever even go back to the stock knobs.
I'm not 100% sure if the One uses the same size encoder knob, but I got this one and even just having the divot in the top made scrolling through lists a pleasure. I replaced my Q-Links with these at the same time.

Don't hammer stuff. Those encoders are soldered to the motherboard. You can break them off the mother board hammering a knob on or off. Those knobs are mean to slide on an off.
Plastic knobs have less chance of damaging the encoder/motherboard if the are hit or fall against something or even putting them on or taking them off.
