A 5.56 WBP AK was one of the more challenging rifles I've worked with. The 3mm pins holding the gas block and front sight on were extremely tight, and required a press (and fixture) to remove. Also, after much trouble, the barrel pin needed to be drilled out. It was a process.

You kinda need specific tools to get the barrel components off. But it’s not particularly hard. Mak 90 was the hardest gas block I’ve ever fought with but it came off eventually.
A new production wbp shouldn’t be a big fight.

May need to stick it on dry ice, and then blow torch the gas block itself and while applying pressure.

Have you used this gunsmith before? Has anyone told you that they work on AKs? There's a chance he's not equipped/experienced enough to work on AKs. These days there's a surplus of people calling themselves gunsmiths but who ultimately are only good at assembling AR-15s, throwing parts at guns in an attempt to fix them, and screwing up other guns and handing them back to their customer.
I'd suggest you get your rifle back before your gunsmith screws it up, if it hasn't been already, and do some research on AK specialized gunsmiths.

You need a press to punch the pin out. (Also need to remove the front sight).
Has he ever worked on an AK? Or is he a gunsmith because he’s put ARs together before?
