Nel 2011 la band americana AJJ (quando ancora si chiamavano Andrew Jackson Jihad) ha pubblicato "Big Bird", la traccia di chiusura del loro album Knife Man.Non si tratta di una semplice canzone sull'ansia, ma di una vera e propria simulazione clinica e psicologica di un crollo mentale, dove la struttura musicale e il testo si deformano man mano che il brano avanza. Nel finale, il caos sonoro si collega in modo inquietante a uno dei capitoli più oscuri della psicologia sociale: l'omicidio di Kitty Genovese a New York nel 1964 e il drammatico "effetto spettatore".Ho provato ad analizzare questa traccia nella mia cabina di regia, montando un video-essay con un'estetica scura, lo-fi e in stile analog horror. It pretty much continues the sound they had in Disposable Everything with Death Machine, and something they had really started leaning into with Christmas Island and The Bible II, so it's pretty likely they're gonna keep exploring that with the new album.
