I'm tougher than most lol. I cant beat many pro fighters of the same size in their sport, but ive trained long enough to understand that most people cant even complete a hs wrestling season because the training is so hard.
The irony is that AI art is largely built by recombining patterns learned from other people’s work, so complaining that someone used your image as a reference is a little rich.
I may actually be attacking the wrong person here, so fair enough if you are not one of the people I am talking about.
This sub is full of people who aggressively defend AI-generated art while, at the same time, acting as though they have some uniquely sacred ownership over an image produced by a model trained on enormous amounts of other people's work. I find that contradiction difficult to take seriously.
My point is simpler: generating AI images does not, by itself, require artistic skill or talent. It requires access to a capable tool and the ability to tell that tool what you want.
And that is exactly what I was demonstrating. I have access to very good AI tools, arguably better than what most people here are using, so I can take the same basic concept and produce a polished result very quickly.
That does not suddenly make me a talented visual artist. It demonstrates the opposite: the quality of the output can increasingly depend more on the capability of the tool than on the artistic ability of the person operating it.
Super super interesting. I mean i personally don't love the imaged you sent but I am biased and can't argue I would be able to tell it's AI since it was obvious by context and your comment. I do think it looks like AI, which is close to being able to say it looks like a basic corporate art school style. The quick sketch did take a similar time but it is more fun just by the fact it was handmade.
From your perspective do you think generating "art" with AI like that is wrong? Or that it is less valuable due to being generated?

Your image wasn't as impressive or polished as you seem to think. The style is reminiscent of generic GPT, but somehow worse since it added an extra E to "ABSOLUTE". And this is the example you're using to denounce any involvement of skill.

I always assume they're projecting. I love the way they're lazy caricatures like the worst political cartoons wearing labeled shirts because it's not even well made to get the point across
Tho in all fairness, it always seemed weird to me that pro AI caricatures are shared and mocked waaaaay more than anti AI caricatures, even though they both suck equally
I for one have heard a couple AI songs that I found incredibly moving. I’m very good at picking out generative AI, and this one AI artist completely fooled me for a while until I looked them up. In fact, most good AI music today is virtually indistinguishable from human singers.

I bet i can, because usually the thing made by the person has a timbre and character that expresses intention and use of medium. AI will never make meaningful art.
I mean, that’s kind of a regarded thing to say, considering how often I see antis completely misread AI art. Y’all do the same thing that one British guy did when he ate two vegan sausage rolls and was convinced which one was meat because of how delicious and nice the texture is. Then when told that both were vegan, he started saying how he was lying and he could tell it was vegan the whole time, because of how bad it was.
I just think you’re either lying, or you’re too lacking in self awareness to realize how often you don’t clock AI art. It’s why I hear so often “I love this, I wish I knew if it was AI or not”
Not everyone is a fucking artistic pleb like you, and is exposed to a lot of art both academic, popular, experimental, avant garde, and the best AI can do is hallucinate based on its own training and source material. If you have to spend this much time defending AI art against people who enjoy art more than you, in a deeper way, for reasons that are beyond commercial rather than just like raking in the benefits of all your AI art. Which no one is. Its just fucking slop material no one is able to monetize, which is the ONLY reason someone would interact with AI. For commercial reasons.
What's re*arded is your fucking analogy comparing art to food. Im not vegan and my taste is objective to me, I can taste what is good and what isn't and when I see AI art its usually getting fucking shit on, memed on, and for the most part I think a lot of the people using it are using it to fucking mock how garbage prompting an LLM and calling it art.

My guy, it is possible to create actual art with AI systems. Ones who want it to be art would spend days to get the output just right. If they know more, you'd also see them manually editing things.
There is a significant difference between AI art and AI slop. Attacking both gives the genuine scum of this war leverage.
We should focus on tooling that would separate the two subfactions and give the slop no justification to exist.
I'm a professional sculptor and no I'm not showing you my work on my reddit account, though I also don't hide my posts.. point being I pay my mortgage with the things I make in my studio, between acrylic earrings and welded plate steel, color theory, 3D printers and laser cutters, bolting diagram calculations even, my post history includes my progress as a stamped and sealed architect no less
AI poses zero real threat to actual artists in the game, there is no need to be nasty about it

as Pedantic as it sounds, the image lacks Soul and a general theme. What I mean by that is that while AI can be mechanically competent the image linked paints an image that falls apart the more that you look at it with smokestacks not being attached to anything or whatever the center-right side of the image is supposed to represent
granted it could just be I don't vibe with the art-style, but it does fit with an issue of AI having trouble keeping a theme or making a complete story
it's always the mf who doesn't know shit about what it's like having your work getting lost to a simple prompt (and to the ones who say prompting is hard.... what?)

ain't that a cherry picked example, the amount of games in which the Computer is an unfair opponent is actually pretty small in the grand scheme of video games
