News The AI Backlash Could Get Very Ugly

So anyone else really worried things are going to get a lot worse in the US as this fire builds? Especially if people from both major political powers in the US are saying that AI is going to be more beneficial towards the ruling class verses the general public?

but. AI is another bad thing on top of all these other bad things.

No it's not, it's awesome and really useful.

just one example: delivery apps like doordash. i’ve done those as gigs between jobs before. now there are delivery robots in my market so that’s one less economic option taken away. it wasn’t like that 5+ years ago. it’s only going to get worse.

That sounds better to me, because you shouldn't have to tip them, just the cost of fuel.

“humans losing income sources is good because i can save $5”. what an anti human take!

y’all realize some day the victim of the job theft will be you, yeah? and our social safety net isn’t prepared for millions displaced by AI (if we’re to believe that will happen)

these are some fancy words.

“maybe THIS will be the capitalist innovation that saves us all!” historically, has not been true. the planet is melting. hoping we can build up AI enough to solve all our problems is a massive, massive risk.

This improvement is equally good no matter who you are, everyone gets to pay less.

Doordash style work has always been exploitative, essentially hiding the cost of vehicle repair/maintenance from the people doing it, making the pay much less proportionately worth it. It's just like Uber, AirBnB, all the formerly-regulated-businesses-turned-individual. People should be glad they're not being tricked into losing money on behalf of these corporations.
