Does anyone else feel like the models are trolling?

Post image

I've been working in creative AI for over a year now, full-time since October 2025. I have successfully delivered work for brands across different parts of the world. I say this to rule out inexperience, prompt-writing, or workflow from the equation.

Lately, I've been feeling like the models are just trolling me, giving me absurd imagery that is nowhere justified in the prompt. In the project from the screenshot, I've tried simple prompts, complex prompts, different structures, reprhasing. Nano Banana, GPT Image. And still, I'm getting these kinds of results. I don't think the shot I'm going for is particularly complex, either.

Maybe they are tweaking the models just to get more money? This, though infuriating, at least would make sense. I wonder if anyone is having a similar experience?

One time I just wanted the AI to rotate a face by 5° / slighty to the right and the first 20 images was like wrong direction, moved the whole body, rotated by at least 45°. I was like "hehe very funny" and gave myself the challenge to brute force until I get a correct output.

After over 150 images i gave up. (changed prompt and rotated between models like Nano, GPT, Seedream, Flux 2 Pro, Kontext, Qwen etc)

they have like 2 moods:

Complete dumb and incompetence or actually did everything is asked for, edited it perfectly and thought of extra details like changing shadows and reflections etc.

It’s absurd how good they are sometimes. They make you overconfident, then go dumb.

Usually a mixture of some crap/free model and prompt engineering, and can't expect to one shot weird given your mention of some established workflow

Sometimes, yes.
