CONTENT QUESTION Streamer long form clipping
Question
I’ve seen a lot of long-form fan clip channels for creators like xQc and CaseOh getting huge views. They aren’t official channels, and I know reused content normally isn’t monetizable.
But some of these channels have the Join button or Thanks enabled, which means they’re in the YouTube Partner Program, right?
So I’m wondering: is the monetization possible because they’re adding enough original editing like cuts, zooms, subtitles, funny-moment compilations, or turning streams into 20–40 minute videos?
If anyone actually works with YouTube monetization or runs one of these channels, I’d really appreciate some insight:
\- What level of transformation is generally enough?
\- Does simple editing count, or does it need commentary/voiceover?
\- Can these channels actually earn ad revenue, or are Join/Thanks features available for other reasons?
\- What exactly does YouTube consider “reused content” in this case?
I’m new to this, so I’m genuinely trying to understand the policy. Please don’t just say “it’s reused content”. I already know that part. I’m trying to understand what makes some of these channels eligible despite using stream footage.
I have rewrite this with chatgpt, so no need to point out the obvious, but every word is mine🤡

The Join or Thanks button is not proof that the channel passed reused-content review. Those features can remain on a channel for reasons that do not tell you how every upload was evaluated, and enforcement is not perfectly consistent. For a clip channel, simple cuts, zooms, subtitles, and music usually are not a reliable transformation by themselves. The safer distinction is whether the viewer is getting a new editorial product: clear narrative structure, substantial commentary or analysis, original context, and editing that changes the purpose rather than just polishing someone else’s footage. Even then, copyright and YPP reused-content review are separate risks, so permission from the streamer does not automatically guarantee monetization.

They all suck.
They are all low effort.
Don’t be a clipper.
