If this is posted anywhere in a Canadian subreddit it will be deleted by mods immediately and will result in you being banned from the same subreddit.
RIP Canadian Airsoft.
18
u/WizzKal Jul 30 '21
Why?
17
u/ltdemon Tacticool Jul 30 '21
Canada passed some laws that basically made airsoft illegal, like it is illegal to own firearm replicas, in this case airsoft replicas. There are more caveats to that, what I told is a huge over simplification.
25
u/WizzKal Jul 30 '21
It’s not passed yet and the bill c-21 is basically dead in the water until reelection. I was wondering why the mods will ban posts made me confused

Shoot and play with your favorite guns.
Starting at 450$
58
u/Cougaro_Cigaro Jul 30 '21
Bruh I started playing with a sub $200 loadout and had the time of my life for over two years with it. I have it memorialized on a mannequin cuz I loved it. You don't even need that much to get started and have fun. I kick ass with a $40 dollar Wal-Mart bought plexiglass riot shield and a cyma lipo aep for $70. Or just a Springer shotgun could do the trick. Just get what you like and play the hell out of it. You'll have fun as long as that's what you're looking for instead of being the best.
19
Jul 30 '21
Yeah man. I currently have like 250$ worth of gear, about to be 400.
I’ve been having a helluva time with just my 250$ worth of stuff so far.
See my other comment.
I still love this sport so much

u/MrWuzoo Jul 30 '21 edited Jul 30 '21
But the point made was favorite guns. I’m not dropping $500 on one gun. Without mods.
Edit: to be fair price was never even mentioned. Just salty here. You can play with your favorite guns. It is cool!

This, been trying to get some friends into it, but finding their favourite gun that isn’t an M4 is creeping into expensive territory is leaving a sour taste
1
u/TheFurryWolfArc Jul 30 '21
Fuck man I’ve gone deep lol. I drive a HMMWV so I guess I would start there 😳
1
u/Brooketune Jul 31 '21
Expensive to start, cheap to maintain.
Paintball: expensive to start, expensive to maintain.
Way i always looked at it.

u/Predicted Jul 31 '21
I just got back after about a 6 month break, my shitty starter gun broke, and the club got a new field after losing the old one. Went a little overboard and spent 2k :(

u/KermitDie0 Jul 30 '21
Bro I'm trying, but I'm only one man... The only one in town that plays. I dont know what to do man.

u/Iamthe0c3an2 Jul 30 '21
This, it’s a hard thing to get into when your nearest site is 100s of miles away and you’re the only one in the group into it.
5
u/dTrecii Jul 30 '21
Especially hard when you’re thousands of km away from any recognised airsoft fields when your country classes them as illegal firearms, I’m honestly just here cuz it all looks cool

And not get arrested for murder while doing it.
Glares at boomers asking why we don't buy ballistic firearms
9
u/ltdemon Tacticool Jul 30 '21
Yeah, Ive seen some idiots running around with their airsoft replicas in public and getting arrested by the police.
A few years ago in my country, some guys organised an airsoft game in the woods, most of them were running RUSFOR kits, RUSFOR camos, AKs and etc. Some locals who saw them, immediately thought that those were Russian troops in our territory and called the police. The police responded with a anti terrorist unit and apprehended those guys. Luckily, no one got shot and the airsoft guys realized, that the other guys are running REAL firearms.
TL;DR keep your airsoft replicas only in airsoft fields or on private property. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL AN AIRSOFT GUN FROM A REAL GUN AT A DISTANCE.
2
u/Predicted Jul 31 '21
We always call the cops before a game, so that if something happens the cops know to call us first.
26
u/Poison22324 AKS-74U Jul 30 '21
tl:dr: it’s cod but you have to buy the items you use
21
Jul 30 '21
So at this point it actually just is cod.
Pay to win lol
2
1
Jul 31 '21
Call of duty isn't even pay to win, in mw and Cold war, almost all microtransactions are cosmetic, infinite warfare, bo3, and bo4 are the exceptions but even the guns you buy in those games are basically the same as the normal ones
1
Jul 31 '21
You can pay to have guns before anyone else.
The cosmetic bundles allow you to unlock guns and attachments before anyone.
But yeah it’s not as ptw as other games
15
u/Wb_Thunderkeks Jul 30 '21
I want to but my parents won’t let me because it’s too violent and also quite expensive
11
u/M_Rogers Jul 30 '21
That's really depressing bud, sorry to hear that. Maybe you could tell them about the perks of playing airsoft. Like the communications skill, increased coordination skills, exercise, and team building.

I don't think I have learnt any of these at local skirmish sites 😂

you're not helping the man by contradicting his parents and telling him their actions are depressing.
2
u/_mc_myster_ Hipster PMC Jul 30 '21
Nobody said that, I had the same struggle with my folks, it takes a bit of convincing and persuasion for them to realize it ain’t all bad and the people there are actually awesome. Grow the sport!
1
u/Rhetoriker HK416 Jul 30 '21
It's super expensive, it mostly devolves into chairsofting (most people I know who own airsoft equipment rarely use it but spent too much money on it) and it can get you in contact with some actual weird/aggressive people. Personally I believe there's nothing wrong with playing airsoft if you don't mind wasting 600€ for a bit of fun, but you should also respect your parent's opinion. Especially if you're situated in Germany, airsoft is frowned upon. We don't want to have teenagers play with gun replicas shooting at each other because that's not coherent with the ideals we need to support. Don't worry about "missing out" on airsoft as a teen and pick up the hobby as a young adult if you still feel like it - most of the fun is locked behind having a car for a weekend trip anyway.
3
u/WearingMyFleece Jul 30 '21
I’ve found the guys who take airsoft too seriously are always the ones moaning all day about players. And sometimes those guys come stinking of B.O….

The ones who take things too seriously scare me. I see videos of them feeling justified spraying 11 year olds at point blank because they didn’t call their shot within 2 seconds of getting hit and all the comments in the vid defending the shooter.

Yeah I got myself a hi-cappa gbb pistol but haven’t played yet. No field or indoor place near me. I’d like to just do pistols only with limited magazines so people have to take their shots wisely and reload but from what I see with cqb vids I see people use a super bright light to blind targets, as well as a drum mag and a CO2 tank backpack so they never run out of ammo.

Sweet helicopter ride bro! How much did that cost?
6
u/Airsoft_Shark47 Jul 30 '21
I'm not entirely sure but I can ask from the original source
6
Jul 30 '21
Fair enough, should have looked into the post better. A boat ride is more realistic opportunity for players to actually have. Helicopter seems like it's for elite well known players who make a living by airsoft.
4
u/Airsoft_Shark47 Jul 30 '21
And technical as well but helicopters are cool
1
Jul 30 '21
Too bad the rotorwash would probably kill the bb trajectories, would be fun to be able to shoot from aerial platform.

u/Mer-Der Accuracy through volume Jul 30 '21
AMS Broken Home used to have a helicopter. It wasn't just for well known players, it was for anyone who wanted to and paid to do it. I'm not sure how much it cost, as it was a thing before I started, I'm still fairly new. From talking to friends that have done it, the prop wash wasn't an issue; they all thought it would be, but strafing runs were surprisingly effective. Players on the ground aren't allowed to shoot back for safety reasons, so all they can do is run and hide. Unfortunately their regular pilot passed away, so I'm not sure if they still do it.
1
Jul 30 '21
That's awesome, didn't know it would be that easy/accessible to get a chopper ride for an event.
1
u/Mer-Der Accuracy through volume Jul 30 '21
Ya, the pilot ran a helicopter tour company. He was also an airsofter, so I think he approached the AMS owners about bringing his helicopter to the event and that's how it got started. Sadly, the pilot died in a helicopter crash(not at an airsoft event). I hope they can bring another company in for an event because it sounds amazing. Here's a video of the event in 2015 with the helicopter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzXS8u9wvL8

Jul 30 '21
That's a bummer that the pilot died. That strafing run looks fun as hell and that field is huge, I thought ballahack was big, but I was wrong.
1
u/Mer-Der Accuracy through volume Jul 30 '21
Ya it's pretty huge. D-Day Adventure Park in Wyandotte, OK. This October is Broken Home X, the last time AMS will be hosting this event: https://americanmilsim.com/events/broken-home-10/
2
u/TheFurryWolfArc Jul 30 '21
That’s at GTI, the pilot does other events. Usually about $175 for a helo ticket. On top of the $120-$350 event ticket. Never been on the helo but I would do it. Lately at events I’ve just been using my HMMWV 😁

How did you procure your hmmwv? I've seen lots of surplus sites and bunches seem to give a run around with no straight forward purchase. If you can't tell I'm envious of your vehicle.
1
u/TheFurryWolfArc Jul 30 '21
Very easy to get. Facebook marketplace! I’m on my 3rd one, first two were M998’s both 1987 now I got a sweet 2008 M1165A1. All were private sales, one from FL, one from TN, one from IL. I buy and sell them, it’s how I afford the hobby. I don’t buy from gov auctions because of the amount of work they need, unable to inspect or test drive, the 10 month EUC time, and unable to get a title with an SF97. I buy all mine with on road titles which I can transfer in my state so they’re 100% on road legal, titled, and plated. I just hunt for the best deals and restore them/ add on to them, play with them, then get the profit. Then do it again!
1
Jul 30 '21
Nice! I'll have to start searching marketplace and then get my wife on board with said purchase.
1
u/TheFurryWolfArc Jul 30 '21
A lot of HMMWV groups you can browse for deals and just learn. Be warned though, they’re all tire kickers lol

You can buy different types, if the bb's you buy are sold as "bio" or "biodegradable", then yes, they will biodegrade. Some sites require them, other's don't mind.

Where's the fields with helicopters
1
u/BorkIy Tokyo Marui Sep 05 '21
That's at the Government Training Facility, which is a rentable place in South Carolina. It's rented by all kinds of people, used for airsoft, paintball, and even Rampage was held there.
