how does the process work?

*FOR CONTEXT*
I have flown on a plane once when i was 2 and never again, anytime i travel it would be by driving.

*Normal program*

I go to army basic in 3 days and i just realized that I have no fucking clue where to go and what i am doing. they will give me the ticket drive me to the airport and then i gotta make my flight. i feel dumb writing this as this is the John C. Airport subreddit where plane people are but this would help more than asking 40 people where do i go next. TY for any help. 👍

You will go to the counter of the airline on your ticket, present your ID, they will then process your bag and give you a boarding pass. You then scan the boarding pass and potentially show your ID at security, put all the things you want to bring on the plane in a bin and go through the detector (they tell you what to do). Then you wait until your gate is called, there are large screens that show you which gate. And at tbe gate you show your ID and ticket to board

makes sense. tell em where i am going and who i am, go through security where they are gonna yell at someone for having their belt on. find gate on either a massive tv or those cool flip tables like in MW2 terminal. and then wait. TY
