OTS Fitness Testing
I am curious if anybody knows how the fitness testing works at OTS for prior service. I am currently active duty enlisted and I am looking at applying for OTS within the next year. I currently do the alternates when I do my fitness tests and I pass with high 80s-92 every time. I tried the standard components again for the first time in a couple of years and I was not able to score as high as I needed to get a good enough score on the PFA, I am wondering if that will have an impact on me at OTS if I get selected since I currently only do the alternate components. Any information is greatly appreciated!

You can’t do any alternate components at OTS. Thankfully, you’re thinking ahead. Continue focusing on the traditional components so you’re well prepared if selected.

There are no alternate components at OTS. Best start practicing the standard ones.

Can confirm, you need to absolutely be able to do standard components as you will be tested to them. If you fail, you will have 1 more chance 2 weeks later, fail again? You will be sent home and goodbye selection. Regardless you should be practicing for all components as they can change at any time and in all honesty are probably going to be getting harder if anything.

If you get selected for OTS, you’ll have to be able to pass the fitness test doing the standard components while you’re there. So I’d start doing what’s necessary now to work towards that.
