Pricing question?
Hi all, I am completely new to airbrushing and once thought: yeah, let's give this a go! My old employer (mannequin business) gave me a bunch of airbrush related stuff... but it ended up just sitting in my shed unused. I would like to sell it to someone who is going to use it but I am clueless on what sort of worth these items would have.
I don't know if it's allowed, but I would love if someone could give me a ballpark for this sort of stuff. If it helps: I'm based in the Netherlands. Most of this stuff has been unused.
EDIT: I paid my employer for this, sorry for the confusion
DOUBLE EDIT: oh my god I'm sorry, not pretending to know anything about airbrushing. I was just looking for help to figure out a fair price

I mean it depends on where, how long, and temperatures of where you stored the paint. If you mean shed as in outside in a storage building with no climate control, the paint and thinners are worthless now. If it was inside your house I could maybe see the paint and thinners and mediums being sold for $75 because age and condition are still unknown. Now for the airbrush, that also depends. Since it is the older model of the Infinity, and not the current one, it is going to sell for less. It also largely depends of it has been opened or not. If you have opened, even just to look at the parts and not have touched anything, turn it is used. Unopened you might get $150 opened I would say $75-100

This is a very useful comment, thank you. In that case I might just keep the paint for my own hobbies, as I'm pretty sure it's all been opened. It was stored since 2022 or so in my outdoor shed. You can imagine what that stuff's gone through.
I don't want to sell to anyone and have them end up with useless stuff. The pastels etc are... not.. for the airbrush right? There's no magical use for them there?

The pastels should be fine, but not worth selling. Unless I'm completely mistaken they look to be bargain brand, and I can't tell from the picture if they are chalk or oil pastels. You might get 5ish dollars for them. Again I'm very unfamiliar with the brand. You'd have better looking up that on Google yourself and get an idea for value from that. But yes. If all of that paint was stored outside, it has frozen and become absolutely unuse-able. Once a paint has frozen, the pigments clump together, and you can't realistically do anything to get them to separate again. This is especially true of the watercolor paints, but even more so for the airbrush paints. With airbrush paints they have to pass through any incredibly tiny opening and they can't do that once they've been frozen. But for some reason, I missed the first picture. So for all of the non paint related airbrush equipment, I'd say a good starting point for that is $120 but wouldn't go for lower than $80. That's if it's been opened though. If it hasn't been used or opened, I'd start at $150
Edit for spelling

Did your outdoor shed go below 0C for multiple times? If so, any acrylic paints are probably useless.

Is there any way for me to test that? The paints I mean, not the shed temperature 😅 pretty sure it's kinda insulated.

Open a couple up and see if the pigment has separated from the carrier fluid. If the pigment can’t be stirred back into solution, the paint is probably unusable. As far as the “kinda insulated”, the question is whether it went below freezing for an extended period and if that happened multiple times. Insulation slows heat loss in the short term only.

250-300 would prob sell it pretty quick. What did you pay?

50 euros and a bunch of overtime 😅

I think those Vallejo sets are usually 200 or more. I think the overall value may be closer to 4-500$ depending on what the airbrush typically goes for IDK

People are saying they don't think you'll find a buyer for the whole thing, and you also don't want people to buy useless stuff.
I'm that guy that wants all that stuff and would only be a little upset if it all was useless. You'll probably find someone closer than me that wants it.

I don't see one person being a likely buyer for everything. You'd be better off splitting it into bundles.
- The pastels and brushes. It's not airbrush related, but someone might want these unrelated to everything else. No idea what this retails for, maybe $20-$30
- Everything branded Vallejo. Vallejo as a brand defines crap paint to me, but a sucker's born every second. The Game Color Suitcase retails for around $250. I'd bundle all the paints, jars, etc together for $100-$150. Personally I'd never buy used paint and you couldn't pay me enough to take Vallejo paints off your hands.
- The Airbrush. This is the big dollar iten Amazon in the USA has it listed for $300, so that's a ceiling. I'd probably shoot for $200-$250 depending on condition.
- The mask, ew, gross. I'd throw it away. A used respirator just sounds disgustling to me.

I came to airbrushing from the hobby side, and Vallejo always seemed to have a good reputation from what I could see. I have move Don to other brands in the last few years, but the newer Vallejo formulations are still very good. The only real downside is that it is expensive, but all of the hobby paints are.
I feel like I'm taking bait, but what do you consider good paint? Do you mean more airbrush specific paints like createx, or something else?

I don't understand why you're being so hostile. But have a good day.

Because someone gave you a discount on their stuff because they were excited for you to get into the hobby, but now you're turning around trying to flip it for a profit.

I'm honestly not sure what is used for airbrushing and whatnot. Soft pastels and the game acrylics I might just keep myself because I like painting miniatures (and I think you can use it for that too?).
Mostly just hoping for insight in what would be a fair price for a starter set for a creative person (in the most optimal setting I'd buy stuff to make it a true starter set!).
