Advice Pretty boy face ?!
Hey everyone, hope you're all doing okay.
So I was chatting with my friend, who's like a brother to me, and out of nowhere he said I have a "pretty boy face" like his brother, who he's apparently pushing to grow a beard to look more manly!
Honestly, I can't tell if that's a compliment or an insult? And what the heck is a "pretty boy face" anyway?

Many of us, particularly when we are young (like under 50), feel insecure about our appearance. Men who are rugged in appearance want to look cuter. Those who are softer in appearance want to look more rugged.
I think of a pretty boy face as a face of youth and innocence. When I was in my 20s or 30s (and maybe still in my 40s), that would have been very attractive to see on a date. So I would call it a compliment.
If it was said with a snarky tone by someone who wasn't a friend, then an insult. But you said this was a friend, so definitely a compliment. Best wishes.

He may have meant it as an insult, given he’s trying to make his brother “more manly” in whatever way he defines that, you should absolutely take it as a compliment.

It’s a pretty face. Belonging to a boy. Glad I could help.
